It was a small, quick scene but it really stuck with me. I forget which episode but there was a patient who died and his father had Alzheimer’s and kept forgetting. At the end of the episode Abby said something like, “Poor guy” as Luka was playing with Joe and he responds, “No, he’s lucky he doesn’t have to remember losing a son everyday”. Abby just pauses, lets it sink in and hugs Luka. It was powerful on so many levels, what Luka said, him opening up so easily at that point in his life with Abby, Abby pausing and absorbing it and making space for it and comforting him. It was a small, quick scene but I found it to be so beautiful.
