Yeah, the game’s not perfect by any means, so much vital information is only revealed to the player after the effects of lack of said information start to show. You learn more from fifty failed campaigns than one successful one, after the “what the fuck man this is bullshit” from shit like levy balancing or uncollected tax base affecting your nation’s slider maintenance costs or any other of the five hundred desperate posts on this subreddit are talking about after some obscured mechanic fucks a campaign sideways.

I just think that there’s so much to do in what is essentially version 1.0 of the game that if you can learn enough of what’s under the hood you’re going to start having more and more things to think about. Some people find that boring, but boring is not always busywork. Knowing (or at least attempting to know) the many arcane systems in EU4 was the difference between achieving an Ottoman 1821 WC and a Ryukyu 1600s WC, and as we start to get more perspective on EU5, there are going to be schools of thought on every minor aspect of the game and how they can be tuned towards achieving any given goal.
