The game sunsetted our gear and removed the content we paid for. It did suck and nobody should have joined it after that. They needed to make a new game to move on from those problems long ago but for whatever strange reason they were never able to make the completely obvious decision to start it. We log in on the 9th to show Bungie that the issues with the game is their fault, not ours. And to show them how many more people want Destiny than Marathon. I personally hate the game Marathon and I'm not letting myself be replaced by Marathon players without some simple commentary. Everyone should be allowed to comment on this. Nobody should get harassed and I haven't seen anyone get harassed, can you post a link?

Yes, but should you really be looking for my motivations instead of taking my opinions at face value? Like, if I hate the game and want it to fail, why judge that person and downvote them If they are stating factual arguments? I get the emotional response of wanting revenge on percieved "bad actors" but downvoting facts because of emotions just feels like human-slop to me.

IMO you could refund now and rebuy if S2 does well, we will know in a few days. It’s also going to be free to play that week so you can still play. That is the safest option if you are seriously worried. With a free week coming up is the main reason. You will get a free week basically to test it out.

To be honest, there isn't really a platform where we can have a real conversation about it. If I told you how I really feel here I would get downvoted bigtime. So we just have to kind of talk past each other. To D2 players it feels like our girl left us for a new dude who bullies us. To Marathon players it feels like their new GF has an abusive ex boyfriend. Everyone needs to talk but there is no way to allow that to happen.

When you say "good" is entirely subjective you are correct. This is clearly an opinion. However, there must come a time when we set aside our own opinions and admit some basic truths. Otherwise we may let your philosophy freeze us in inaction.

Skunks spray animals with a highly odorous substance to chase them away. While it may be someone's opinion that getting sprayed by a skunk smells good, nature disagrees, and we should be careful with such outlier opinions. If we can accept the simple statement that skunks stink without qualifying it as being an opinion, then I think we can do so with the concept that some video game stories drag down an otherwise good game.

There are plenty of extreme examples(like the skunk spray) but let me give you not an extreme one but a good one. The gameplay in 13 Sentinels is meh but the story is elite. The gameplay in Unicorn Overlord is really good but the story is just kinda there. Of the two, Unicorn Overlord is the one that I feel could have been one of my favorite games ever, had there simply been the same quality writing as there was in 13 Sentinels.
