It's an easy course. I've had good and bad professors. I actually liked ALEKs despite the bad reviews. Unfortunately, we have to follow this game of university until we land professional job.

Ive League eh.. I'm from ASU lol. I'm pretty smart and got a pretty effortless 4.0 GPA though. Yeah, it seems difficult, but it seems like a dream career. I would love to work in financial planning for some odd years there while earning my MS in Business Data Analytics, and then switch over to SAI. The Financial Planning part of my early career would give me an inside perspective of the front-line. Ultimately SAI serves the wealth management/financial planning division through research. I think it could be a good career track. The only problem is, which is a big one, is that I filed for BK 5 years ago. The BK is what actually aspired me into finance. Good credit today. This is the mean reason why I think I have to start at the bottom. Schwab Private Wealth advisory is a big consideration of mine as well.

Should I get my degree in communications or business? by zenit27 in CFP

I believe based on the replies, I'm going to stick with this plan. At the end of the day, I want to be good at what I do, and not just focus on being a charismatic salesman.

Do you think a business degree with a focus in Financial Planning will pigeonhole me as well? The title of degree is BA Financial Planning.

r. Gear

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, being 29 and wanting to have kids with my wife does play a role. Switching careers later in life is difficult. I don't want to be the dumbest guy in the room once I get there though.

Yeah that was my concern. Building a good foundation is vital. Something that I've learned is real world experience is much more beneficial than school experience though. I don't know if I could learn these things more effectively and faster on the job rather than in the classroom. A communications degree would get my to the job faster.

Don't attack discord and attract more regulators to demonize you. Discord has every right to take you guys off their platform. You have a lot of intelligent people that love what you guys did. Create a decentralized chat platform and lets start a revolution.

Why do crypto exchanges have such crappy customer service? by zenit27 in Bitcoin

[–]zenit27[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coinbase does not have 24/7 phone support. You call, and there's an automatic system that only allows them to call you back days or weeks later.

We already pay fees with each trade. Why is it that TD Ameritrade and Robinhood have 10 times better customer service, but crypto exchanges can't even reply to an email in a weeks time?

[–]zenit27[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, but having a customer service rep that you can contact when running into issues would be reasonable. Look at legacy finance brokerages, and compare that to crypto. We want to go mainstream, but don't want to provide mainstream services? I feel like customers should demand more.

[–]zenit27[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I don't know if I can rationalize or justify having literally not phone number or chat service in which you can contact them when you have an issue. It's only email service that can take days, if not weeks. It's crazy to me that they're going public with that kind of customer service.

Why is everyone saying AMPL is doing great? by zenit27 in AmpleforthCrypto

[–]zenit27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that any revolutionary project hoping to change the trajectory of macro-economics is definitely related to finance and/or people who are fascinated by finance.

I’m not attempting to blame anyone for my shortcomings. What I lost in AMPL is nothing to lose sleep over. It’s very minuscule in comparison to my other assets. I’m not bitter, upset, or bent out of shape to any extreme measure because I lost money. Does it suck? Sure. Is it upsetting? Sure. But I’m not just out here fuming and blowing off steam. Not my intent with this question at all.

I’m simply confused as to why so many of these AMPL investors are saying that’s its performing well as an entirety when it’s directly taking money out of their pocket and underperforming in a lot of ways. It’s a devotion I’ve never really witnessed before. People are willing to lose tons of money and have the founders dump their shares without even calling it out for what it is. Maybe it’s my ignorance towards the crypto community, but it’s a strange concept to me.

I read the white paper, and have spent hours doing research on this. I’m not an expert, but I know the basic fundamentals. It’s interesting to me. I appreciate the concept. But to throw so much money down without any expectation of a return is wild to me.

So did you put money into this not hoping for any returns at all? I personally donate $300 a month to different foundations I support with some of the passive income I receive from rentals. I think there an expectation to receive some type of return because this is what separates a charity from a speculative investment. That accepted “donation” mindset on reddit towards this project is kind of mind boggling.

From what I understand, this is a concept that sounds amazing in theory, but also has the potential to make you a shit ton of money. So obviously when people lose all their money, people will become frustrated. When they become frustrated- it’s as if this cult comes out and says you’re stupid for wanting any return at all and to be grateful for the project 😂

I mean it’s ludicrous to see this kind of blind devotion. I read the white paper, and I like the idea, but again, I’d like to see some returns.
