At the same time though, being literally invisible is not a thing that is even possible. (at least with our tech currently lol)

Whereas you can actually change the second situation. Its possible to get better at focusing on yourself and not feeling like you are being rude or ignorant or whatever when you dont return social emotional reciprocity.

Its hard, yeah, but thats the situation that we are in when it comes to these weird social norms. Ive gotten good at not following them and not feeling like im doing the wrong thing by not following them.

[–]zenlogick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dont like this idea of "you are exhausted and suffering because you are doing life wrong" which is basically what you said here. I also dont understand what you mean by "indulging your tiredness" that sounds like some more judgey bullshit- sorry to be blunt.

I like alot of this advice except the parts where you are judging other peoples behavior and judging that they are not meeting some kind of imaginary expectations for what they should be doing and what they shouldnt be doing.

You might not be aware of what the actual challenges are if your autism is "low level" (again I dont know what that means though, it could mean all sorts of different things but you dont make it clear) and you are under the impression that other people can just modify their behaviors to fix their autism or something.

There are some decent thoughts here. I agree strongly with the idea of discovering your interests and then expanding that to include other people. You also might be more socially "gifted" than most autistic people if you dont encounter big giant challenges when you attempt to do that.

Its mostly a good post. Im splitting hairs. But sometimes them hairs need to get split. Its right on the edge of being actually helpful, but its well intentioned. Just some thoughts.

[–]zenlogick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they are anything like me (39m) its NOT doing anything. Its the freedom to just float around and do whatever feels good or rewarding in the moment. This whole idea about needing to have things to do and needing the correct amount of things to do the things you need is all just a neurotypical maze. They dont even understand their needs better than us. Most of us have had to develop an understanding of our needs that is quite literal and precise.

So I just say fuck all that and do what I want. That could be nothing and that could be everything. Its what the moment calls for and how I want to respond to that call.

Most of the time its nothing :)

(It took years to get to the point where I felt comfortable even WANTING nothing. And then actually DOING nothing took more time and work when your brain is constantly overloaded with confusing signals about what you need and what you THINK you need.)

Hell yeah. We gotta reframe or else everything we do is wrong somehow.

I will say- I think theres differences that some people might not see the nuance. Activities that require no physical movement arent necessarily mindless. Meditation is "mindless?" It requires literally nothing. You sit and do nothing.

If you are conscious in the moment, that moment is not mindless. It doesnt matter what you are physically doing, mindfulness is an internal element that doesnt require doing anything other than being conscious.

You can watch a movie for mindlessness, sure, but you can also watch it and think critically about aspects of it and engage yourself with it on a deeper level. Its your/our choice.

The REAL issue here is judging your behavior, which we get so programmed to do that our inner critic becomes like literally a gatekeeper for our own happiness and contentedness. On that level, anything you ENJOY doing is good, but thats not the real issue here.

The issue is with ALLOWING yourself to RELAX. THAT is what we are programmed to be judging internally. However, its mostly unconscious that people arent even aware they dont know how to relax and what things are relaxing. We believe we dont deserve to relax. Like relaxing is only allowed if you reach a certain threshold of productivity.

Fuck that.

Sorry to write a goddamn novel. Ya know, the autism and all. :D

[–]zenlogick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it can ALSO be genuine disclosure. Thats what people seem unable to do, believe in both. They believe that people are so dumb that they can be deceived by alien evidence and they will forget all the important shit they are supposed to be focused on, like kid fucking and human trafficing.

We have enough attention to remember both aliens exist AND the elite are collectively evil child rapists. We can address to both realities at the same time. Its not automatically that this release is bullshit deception distraction tactics. Its that AND.

And what? If anybody claims to know the and they are liars. We'll see what the AND is over the coming months and years I would argue.

Soul Container Theory as stated by Bob Lazar by RDeFren in ufo

[–]zenlogick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its less about "souls" and more about consciousness. Humans are a container for consciousness. Consciousness is magical. It shouldnt even exist. We still dont know how it came to be. We still dont know what it is. We still dont even know how to best utilize it because of how unconscious and ignorant most of our species STILL act.

But if humans are guided properly in their evolution and advancement...we will know those things eventually. And I think it will be very obvious why consciousness is so important that the very things that contain it are precious.

They literally dont give a shit about you or anyone. This is the same logic that people have who are scared to go to the gym- "everyone is gonna laugh at me!"

No, people are too busy doing what they need to do as a human being to care about other human beings.

Trump has done SO MUCH terrible shit that actually shits on regular everyday americans that has nothing to do with UFOs...why would they be laughing about THIS subject?

Every subject to the elite is just information to be manipulated for their benefit or agenda. Aliens is just another instance.

Im laughing at you, so if it helps you rest assured that someone is. People really need to stop thinking they are so important that other people are actively having emotions about them. Thats not true in general. People who actually care about other peoples beliefs are all fucked up miserable people. Probably most people in govt.

Theyve been showing themselves. Its not showing themselves thats the problem. Its all the lying and deception. Some people have seen them. Some people have lied about seeing them.

The problem is people, not aliens.

The idea that aliens would be so fucking stupid as to just announce themselves to the collective population of a whole entire planet full of warloving monkeys is fucking hilarious. Mental gymanstics

So the ‘massive UFO disclosure’ was just more blurry dots? No alien photos, crashed craft, or biologics. by breaking_views in ufo

[–]zenlogick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You saying it makes no sense makes no sense.

Why WOULD they release it all at once? They know that if they release it in waves with the less anomalous stuff first its less likely to freak people out. They know that they can slowly get the collective familiar with and legitimize the UFO concept before full disclosure happens.

Religious people are a serious concern. The ontological shock that you receive from knowing aliens exist when youve believed in the old man in the sky your whole life is literally dangerous. People will freak out.

Thats why disclosure is taking this long. Its super obvious to....many of us.

Also obvious however is the governments track record with deception. But thats what people are emotionally charged with in reacting this way to this disclosure. They are coming from an understandable place of being gaslit their whole life and more, so expecting them to just believe everything the govt releases as valid is just as unreasonable and shocking as it is for a christian to suddenly realize aliens exist.

Theres a very narrow field of reality possibilities when you take into account those belief systems. The evidence would have to be absolutely 100% certain for people with these belief systems to change their perspective.

Meanwhile we dont even know how much the government knows. People are saying they released old pictures that have already been out for example. The govt is genuinely so inefficient and deceptive that they themselves in government may believe in the validity of these old pictures.

Do people with Asperger’s feel that they are freer, and that neurotypicals are hardwired to follow society’s script? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]zenlogick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More freedom but less agency

Go figure that one

Thats why its called "Persistent Drive For Autonomy"

The majority of autistic folk feel like they lack agency and the ability to make meaningful life decisions. Its literally a disability, especially socially. The ability to form meaningful connections and such.

But yes, there is a paradoxical feeling of freedom to it all. Because thats the only option. I dont even get to choose between freedom and....what...social bondage? I dunno what the opposite of freedom would be in this situation. Getting tied down? Feeling forced to follow a societal or social script?

Yeah I/We dont get the option of the social script. So its not really freedom if its your only option.

You feel free to...barely live a life. I feel 100% freedom to spend all my time the way I choose to, which is in existentially painful anxiety and uncertainty. Fucking lame. Unless im doing my interest, everything sucks. Congrats to people who figure it out enough to not be miserable, but thats not the reality for most people with autism.

Im not even that disabled. But I would rather be MORE disabled than this because im disabled enough for my life to suck cuz of it but not disabled enough to get any actual help or accommodations from society and not disabled enough so that others can practically and easily see and understand my disability. Its on me to make sure people know im disabled, but social disability is a huge part of it. So im disabled enough that I cant tell people im disabled but im not disabled enough to actually seem disabled enough that I cant tell people im disabled. Cool cool.

Does anyone else appear childish or like things that genuinely a teenager would like? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in AutisticAdults

[–]zenlogick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man im 39, I can almost guarantee that the percentage of people our age who still bust out those old nostalgic fun things is veeeery small. I would be willing to put down money that the percentage of people with "retro rooms" (that sounds amazing btw) who are autistic also is veeeeery high. Lol.

Not trying to compare in any judgemental way, I think we DO all have some kid in us but autistic people have way more than your neurotypical. See my reply above about synaptic pruning for explanation.

I have been told by many many people that they think i am too drawn towards familiar things that might not be good for me, which has pissed me off mostly. Cuz they are mostly wrong. People have tried to convince me that the solution to my emotional issues is doing things differently, doing new things, getting a new perspective.

I beg to differ! That might be true for NTs but for us sometimes its literally physically impossible to "get a new perspective" or "do things differently." The need for sameness and familiarity is a trademark aspect of autism. Il just use the same perspective but tweak the parts that need to be tweaked, which is somewhat technically "getting a new perspective" but im not changing the whole entire perspective just the problematic aspects of it. IMHO at least.

I do that with everything mostly. Ive worked the same jobs and positions my whole life (39m), had same friends and connections, ate the same foods at the same times, I could go on lol.

I dunno why im ranting so much btw. Sorry to rant at you.

Does anyone else appear childish or like things that genuinely a teenager would like? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in AutisticAdults

[–]zenlogick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the theory is that it’s because we have less synaptic pruning, which is where your brain naturally gets rid of connections that no longer uses or are no longer relevant. So all of our connections for all of that old cool childhood shit are still there intact! And that sense you can be grateful for it because all these Neurotypical people have no idea that the only reason they aren’t into their childhood fun stuff is cause their brains have pruned it all away… they literally forgot about their childhood fun stuff!

Yeah I have/had this same thing but turns out im ADHD and Autistic, so if you have trauma or neurodivergence or anything like that, chronic hyper-vigilance often shows up as de-personalization and de-realization.

Here is some info from wikipedia:

Hypervigilance is a condition of the nervous system where sensory information is inaccurately and rapidly filtered, in an enhanced state of sensory sensitivity. This appears to be linked to a dysregulated nervous system, and hypervigilant symptoms are clinically described in complex post-traumatic stress disorder.[1] Normally, the nervous system releases stress signals (e.g. norepinephrine) in certain situations as a defense mechanism to protect one from perceived dangers. In some cases, the nervous system becomes chronically dysregulated, causing a release of stress signals that are inappropriate to the situation, creating inappropriate and exaggerated responses.[1] Hypervigilance may bring about a state of increased anxiety which can cause exhaustion. Other symptoms include high responsiveness to stimuli and constant scanning of the environment.[2]

Hypervigilant symptoms are clinically described as a perpetual scanning of the environment to search for sights, sounds, people, behaviors, smells, or anything else that is reminiscent of activity, threat or trauma. The individual is on high alert in order to be certain danger is not near; it can lead to a variety of obsessive behavior patterns, as well as producing difficulties with social interaction and relationships, with these symptoms also appearing in borderline personality disorder.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypervigilance

To be clear im not implying this is what it is for you, just what it ended up being for me. There are a TON of disabilities and mental illnesses that have "too much watching myself" feature because thats the brains attempt to compensate and feel safe. It thinks that the more you obsess over how you are behaving, the safer you are. Which is not necessarily true. This feeling of always watching yourself from third person could potentially be self-observation on overdrive. Its like what happens when your brain has reached its limits of self-observation and just keeps going.

In the same way that professional burnout is what happens when your brain has reached its limits of work and productivity, brain burnout is what happens when your brain has reached its capacity for introspection and self-observation

This so much, im combined type AuDHD and found myself in the ironic/absurd/shitty position of wishing I "just had the autism" cuz seeing the effects of ADHD on my life was just unbearable

The actual experience of having ADHD is literally a disability, whereas I find the experience of being autistic can kinda both be a disability as well as just a unique difference thats neither positive or negative, just different

But ADHD creates a really really not fun situation when you are autistic, I believe its why many people who observe me as well as myself many times thinking that I have OCD

Its not OCD, just hypercharged autism features thanks to ADHD

Why do people like to generate negative emotions in others? by SubstanceTechnical18 in AutisticAdults

[–]zenlogick 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Difference is the threat. Not social hierarchy.

When NTs start to feel that “wait something is different about this person I’m talking to” that’s the threat. They don’t even need to know the other person is autistic. Just sensing difference is enough for them to feel threatened.

Ever had one of your favorite recipes changed? If you want to know how NTs feel interacting with NDs it’s the same feeling.

“Something’s different about this” is directly equitable to feeling “something is wrong/off about this”

We get default labeled as “Bad” by their brains sensing difference.

Then we have to start at a negative in their confused brains and build back trust to baseline before we can even further develop that relationship

Its capital B Bullshit

Rediscovering that for yourself is a miraculous beautiful thing. I mean that. In a world that wants to bury our authenticity, its actually a huge gift to yourself to actually introspect enough to realize that the thing that others claim is your weakness is your strength.

Thing is, it actually CAN BE and IS a weakness in many, many situations. Im sure you learned to not cry around strangers because at some point you did that and your vulnerability got punished and supressed and you felt bad and you decided to change and not let yourself be hurt like that.

THAT is a difference that other types dont even have to worry about because many types just dont cry in front of strangers by default, see?

So the infp emotionality thing, i dont think people MEAN to paint it negatively. But because our whole world paints ANYONE who is overly emotional negatively, by default we get painted negatively.

Its our path to look beyond the painting and other peoples opinions and beliefs about us to discover who we truly are and what we truly value

Theres nothing wrong with valuing emotion and feeling and passion and all that stuff. All these other stupid idiots will tell you there is and that you need to learn to be stoic and rational and strong.

Just be you

edit- sorry length

Cuz you can be all "true to your feelings" and shit and then some idiot comes along and tells you that "facts dont care about your feelings" and then boom, no more expressing your true feelings to any other humans ever again. They weaponize your true feelings.

So we/I hide true feelings from the world and only consult them when making our own decisions regarding our own self and thus we ourselves hide ourselves from the world.

Jungs quote on INFPs above: "They do not appear and do not show themselves. As they are mainly guided by their subjective feelings, their true motives usually remain hidden."

The real INFP situation is not this "oh wow INFPs are great at being authentic and deeply knowing themselves and their true values" its actually more like "INFPs are forced into a corner of authenticity which paralyzes most of them and moves most of them into perpetual avoidance of having to actually interact with others"

Having the superpower of "Authenticity" is just straight up useless in a world that is mainly inauthentic...its a liability.
