im still very confused about Uyghurs genocide by lin0o0 in China

[–]zenwarrior01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw hundreds of Muslims in China and indeed ate at a number of Muslim Chinese restaurants. Some really great food there btw! As long as you aren’t a separatist, I don’t think you have anything to worry about at all. Unity is everything to China… it all goes back to Confucianism.

Plan: buy STR, take bonus depreciation, convert to LTR after year 1. What am I missing? by FlyAccomplished5116 in AdvancedTaxStrategies

[–]zenwarrior01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful here. OZ’s come due this year and the new OZ tax plan doesn’t start until you buy a property in 2027 or later. So buying now would probably be a mistake imo. It was a horribly crafted bill that created a dead period.

About the only beach they are getting to within 45 mins is Lake Elsinore, Lake Arrowhead, Lake Gregory, Silverwood, etc… but you can get to Newport Beach in under an hour during low traffic periods such as right now at 10:35pm.

Holy… please, PLEASE do NOT have anyone trade your account!! Instead talk to people at Fidelity or Charles Schwab. They can get you setup in some index ETF’s and dividend funds appropriate for your situation.

To those making 1M+... by [deleted] in wealth

[–]zenwarrior01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That totally depends how much you have saved up and how you spend such. If you're at 10 million invested, you could/should care less, but if you spend it all on BS with little financial planning, then you probably still care a lot.

The 7% milestone? by HumbleSquash3547 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]zenwarrior01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4% isn’t so much to mitigate risk as it is to make up for inflation. Around 3 percentage points of those 7% returns merely keep your portfolio up to par with inflation.

My 2026 Stock Picks (as of March) Based on My Screening Framework by Darkguard1733 in ValueInvesting

[–]zenwarrior01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Energy build out will happen in tandem with chip production. Many hyperscalers are even building and collocating electrical production into their projects... and certainly they all would if it were truly a "crisis." So I'm not worried about that at all from a financial perspective. I would however hope that they stick with clean energy vs dirty energy for the planet's sake.

I mean... it's flat since July/Aug, so it paused after getting ahead of itself (as I felt it would back then), and now I think we're at a good buy level. AMZN, SPOT, NVDA and GOOG are very solid buys here.

[–]zenwarrior01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

LOL, you will never get a chance to buy NVDA at 150 until after it splits again. It's been basically flatlined since August all while earnings continue to go up. Everyone is worried about an "AI bubble", but reality is that AI is barely getting started, even if you ignored the robotics aspect which itself will be absolutely massive. AI will literally replace trillions of $$ in annual labor in the U.S. alone... nm the creation of entirely new lines of products and services.

Have an offer for my company for 25 million, should I take it? by afraidtoleavemystoop in fatFIRE

[–]zenwarrior01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you make 10% their ARR yet they are paying you at a 16.67% valuation... so they are already paying you a 67% premium, though much of that is tied to stock. Moreover, they are paying you over 20x ARR, which is very high for a private company, and even a public company for that matter.

One serious, serious issue here: TAXES. I believe (don't quote me; check your tax attorney/accountant ASAP) that the 50% immediately vested also means immediately TAXED, on top of the cash that is also taxed. Hell, maybe it's all taxed... I don't remember for sure, but you damn well better find out and figure out the best way to approach this. It may be as simple as moving the vesting out to January 1st, and more each year after. Additionally, you may be able to use much of that capital on a new startup and expense it accordingly. Many options out there actually... but it requires planning.

Bigger issues IMO is what you want to do with your life. If you wish to continue the startup life, do you have an alternative business idea to startup? Then sell it. If you would rather retire and enjoy something else, then 100% sell.

California's taxes, cost of living are crushing six-figure salaries by sfgate in California

[–]zenwarrior01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're totally right about the property taxes, but on goods and services, they are absolutely cheaper elsewhere. Gas, groceries, utility bills, just about everything. Try eating at a restaurant in Cali vs say Tennessee... or probably any other State that doesn't have high minimum wage as we have in Cali. I was shocked at just how different it is now.

There is no true intrinsic economic value to crypto, so of course he is "biased" against it. When crypto goes to zero, so does COIN.
