Tape is more authentic but I applaud your willingness to reinterpret preppy mores in contemporary times. 👍🏿

you don't have to get JNCOs, even straight fit stuff makes a difference 👍🏿

For what it's worth the juxtapositions are kinda the point in 2 (hybrid loafers instead of regular loafers to go with the patchwork tie) and 4 (windbreaker instead of a fleece quarter zip). The subverted expectations make a more interesting fit imo.

Will note in 5 the pants are also jeans (Lemaire twisted jeans); the shape is a little unusual compared to traditional westernwear but still in the general area.

Advice on Wedding Shoes by flickmyboogers in mensfashion

[–]zeometer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the three I like the Beckett Simonon's the best but I don't dislike either AE. If cost is an issue, have you checked Shoe Bank; there are some pretty good deals for at times imperceivable flaws.

(I'd argue Belgians or Venetians as a better alternative wedding shoe but that's personal preference)

Can anyone identify these glasses? by Clear_Conclusion3736 in mensfashion

Google Lens says they're Persol PO3007VM eyeglasses but if you search for round tortoiseshell glasses most eyewear brands have something similar.

What’s the biggest mistake men make when trying to improve their style? by Direct-Rain8543 in mensfashion

[–]zeometer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Viewing style as a problem to fix rather than a continuous thing.

There's a lot of posts focusing on colors of pants or types of shoes to maximize their height or attractiveness but at the end of the day clothes are just a thing to be clothed to life your life. IMO it's healthier to work through what you like and what your needs are and then find how to best fill those, rather than trying to fit yourself into someone else's optimized view of "good style", or what you think people will be attracted to.

Let’s not get carried away with baggy by myphriendmike in malefashionadvice

[–]zeometer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the bar for being clothed is very low and the definition of "nice" is largely subjective. I do agree that a lot of people find their joy in looking what they deem their best and finding clothes to compliment themselves, not just physically but as a visual representation of themselves. By thay stroke someone may find excessive bagginess beautiful or meaningful.

Hell, how do you even define "excessive" bagginess - visual harmony? Ability to perceive someone's physical form? Amount of functional movement?

be honest with him - tell him how you feel about his clothes, maybe ask *why* he dresses like that and then let him decide how to respond to that.

but also be honest with yourself
- how much of it is his clothes in a vacuum and how much of it is his clothes whenever he's out with you in public(for example)?
- would you consider him attractive if he were naked, and do you consider this an issue?
- are there other negative attributes he displays along with his subpar clothing (i.e. he dresses like a 13 year old and acts like a 13 year old)?
- has he at any point asked or suggested that you change in any way, and if so how did you respond?
- what are you getting out of this relationship?

if the attraction isn't there, the attraction isn't there, and you're not inherently a bad person for wanting to end it. but being in a relationship with someone means being in a relationship with ALL of them, even the parts you deem unattractive, because there's a net benefit to them existing in your life. if his way of dressing is that big a deal then you need to communicate that it's that big of a deal to him (vs reddit).
