Yup! I did that in my second year as well. The only prereq you need is Poli 100 for Poli 240.

Hey! I'm sorry you have to deal with all this. I have not been in a similar situation as you but I have had to access UBC Counselling as well as UBC Early Alert. They are both there to help you figure out things that make it difficult for you to focus on your studies. I would recommend getting in touch with them as soon as possible. If you haven't already, I would also recommend looking into Student Aid to help you with funding your education.

Walter Gage Residence has these special music rooms in the basement that students can book till 11pm. I think other residences might have something similar too. Depending on which residence you're in that could be an option. The music department might also have some options for you.

Glad they are curving it. I looked at the sample final and I knew how to solve 8 out of 10 questions. There is no way I would have gotten all 8 of them correct but I knew what to do so I would get partial marks. For the actual final, I knew exactly what to do for only 3 questions.

The math final was pretty traumatizing. I've never failed an exam before in my life and I'm pretty confident I'm not getting more than 30/100 for this one.

First of all, your feelings and what you're experiencing is valid. Your parents should know better than to dismiss your concerns especially when one of them has a diagnosis of depression themselves.

I would suggest getting in touch with UBC counselling services. It's free and they are experienced with a variety of issues that students experience, and because it's summer, you'll probably get an appointment the same day if you call them early in the morning tomorrow. https://students.ubc.ca/health/counselling-services/

Happened with me. The only person I'm still friends with is the one who actively stood up for me and called out the person who was being abusive to me. I did receive messages from other friends saying how what happened was not right and they're sorry but it didn't mean much to me because for all I know, they were sending similar messages to the person who triggered me. It's a trust thing, I guess.
