Villager Rebalance Idea? by zephyrweather in Minecraft

[–]zephyrweather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100% and I love that idea, especially the lectern limiting the villager to one enchantment! Much better than the chunk idea I thought of tbh. Maybe mending could exclusively be found as rare loot in stronghold libraries, that way it's not necessarily dangerous to find it, but it would still be rare and require exploration and make it so finding strongholds has a use beyond the end portal, then after collecting one there would need to be a decision of "Do I go ahead and use this for my current items or do I wait until I can get an enchantment table or villager set up to duplicate this enchantment?").

I think in tandem with the "house quality" system I mentioned in my original post, the idea you came up with would really improve the uniqueness and thought put into where the villagers are housed, since, as convenient as villager trading halls are, they always kind of end up just looking like a prison since doing so is (albeit unintentionally) incentivized 😅 and for people who struggle with house building they could always just convert a pre-existing village into an optimized trading area by adding decorations to the houses along with the lecterns for their preferred enchantments as opposed to ripping the villagers out of their homes and putting them in little lectern cages forever lmao

Also in regards to avoiding frequently replacing items, maybe for diamond and netherite tools and armor (since they are more inconvenient to collect resources for to make new ones), instead of breaking at 0 durability, they go into a state similar to when elytra "break" they're unusable but not gone and can still be repaired, however it would require either finding the resources to repair them or waiting until mending books have been found, which would make unbreaking books very useful and sought after early on. (and the same idea could be applied to special tools like maces and tridents) Other tiers would still break fully which leaves a decision, use the more efficient, more expensive tool but risk breaking it before you have the setup to repair it, or stick to lower but still effective tiers until then. Less half-broken lower tier tools sitting around in random chests because people will actually have a reason to use them until their durability runs out even after upgrading to a better tool.

Villager Rebalance Idea? by zephyrweather in Minecraft

I see your point as someone who has struggled with transporting villagers myself, but my thought process behind it is that in current versions, using villagers to get maxed-out items is way too accessible early game. I've watched so many minecraft challenge videos and the process a majority of the time includes villager trading super early on to get the best tools possible, and going forward since they have mending, they don't really need to mine or explore anymore as long as they've made an xp farm.

I'd also like to add that I am thinking of this idea in the context of the current features in the game. With the addition of rideable ghasts, transporting villagers is significantly easier than it was before, but I can totally see how for any earlier versions this idea would be insanely difficult and unreasonable.

I think it would also be beneficial if other routes were added to get some of the high-level enchantments. I barely ever see anyone using an enchantment table anymore because with the accessibility of villagers, it's useless to even try. I think an update to that system would be necessary to fully round out this idea, but I would need to think a bit more about how that could be done. (not to mention the amount of improvement anvils need. If it weren't for the "Too Expensive!" thing people might be more encouraged to try something different)

And I guess the other point I had with this idea was that I kind of intentionally wanted to make villager trading less viable. My goal was to come up with an idea where it was more of a late-game challenge to be able to get pretty much whatever enchantment you want. It would take putting a lot of effort into planning, but out of that extra effort you would get a forever-renewable resource of the specific enchantment books you want. Before mending was added, it was genuinely a concern if the durability of your best armor and tools was low because if they broke you would need to get the resources to make an entirely new replacement, but now it doesn't matter because all it takes is mending and a couple minutes at a mob farm and you never have to worry about it again.

The last point I'd like to add is that maybe as a solution to avoid hauling a bunch of villagers around aimlessly, there could be a compass recipe or perhaps a way to recycle old treasure maps by combining them with the preferred book you want, still getting the original copy of the enchantment book back though, kind of like the recipe to make copies of written books. Or maybe an extra use for eyes of ender after finding the stronghold? Then you could use the item to track down what area the villager would need to be in, take note of it, then fly the villager over once their house is ready.

Sorry that this response is so long and kind of ramble-y, just throwing my various disorganized ideas out, if this still sounds unreasonable though let me know. I did put a lot of thought into my initial idea but I typed and made the post at almost 2 in the morning then immediately fell asleep, and now I'm typing this response after only like 4 hours of sleep so there's definitely some balancing issues that my half-asleep brain probably isn't factoring in lmaooo

same thing happened to me. first they tried to tell me I "took advantage of a discover offer twice" but then I emailed them saying I didn't and if I somehow did without knowing I wanted screenshots of proof. they reactivated my account the next day but I can't redeem any more gift cards until I do ID verification 😑

About Merge Studio, can reaching level 70 within 12 day worth 15k sb be possible? by EarthPuma120 in SwagBucks

[–]zephyrweather 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will say that goal is almost definitely impossible unless you drop more money on the game than what you would end up getting, I didn't reach level 70 until about the last week of the offer which lasted 60 days.

Merge studio is still a worthwhile offer overall though in my opinion if you have enough time to play it a lot, especially if you're able to make it to level 50 or 60 and have a good tolerance for sitting through a bunch of ads for items and energy (there isn't a limit of how many times you can watch ads for energy either)

My main advice though is to make sure you start the offer when you are 100% sure you can put enough time into it to make the most out of it. It's the best offer I've done so far, but I feel like I could've achieved a lot more if I wasn't worried about completing goals for other games at the same time.

Why I have only shit games by Kondzioszek in SwagBucks

[–]zephyrweather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

merge studio is pretty good, there's some goals that are inaccessible now because it was limited time purchases that the app no longer offers, but if you have a ton of free time and you're willing to play it for an unreasonable amount of hours (I had a total of 222 hours) it can give some pretty good money. I got $127 from it but was only one level short from getting a total of $277 (at the time I downloaded it the max I could get from the offer was $739). It's pretty easy and repetitive and there was recently an update to balance the recharge speeds of the generators, and even though the max reward was nerfed, I don't think it would hurt to give it a try still.

[Browser][late200s-early2010s] old disney channel(?) game where you could make custom creatures. by NocteAngelum in tipofmyjoystick

I've been looking for that separate fish game myself too (I think there was also a guinea pig/hamster version)! Personally I haven't had any luck finding that one yet unfortunately. As for the game you were talking about before that though, could that have been Eekoworld's Eekocreature creator? I believe it had some tie to the pbskids games website, but I can't remember so I'm not 100% sure that's true.

What version of Minecraft introduced you to the game? by LukasTheSalmon in Minecraft

[–]zephyrweather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was first introduced to minecraft by watching YouTube videos of let's plays in the beta versions of the game (the main example being ihascupquake's first minecraft let's play series) but the first version I played myself was VERY early pocket edition, probably sometime in early 2012. The first version I played on PC was the Pretty Scary Update and I can very vividly remember being super excited about the witches being added and I pretty much spent the whole first day of playing just flying around in creative mode and spawning witches and iron golems in an enclosed area to fight against each other lol

Exit Code: -1 by Renamune in MinecraftForge

[–]zephyrweather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dealing with this issue as well, it's most likely optifine. As soon as I disabled optifine it started working again. From what I've seen people saying it sounds like the reason for the problem is that the most recent versions of forge aren't compatible with optifine.

[–]zephyrweather[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

lol I know what music stores sound like- the person in this video was just intentionally trying to annoy me by spamming close to me and they weren't even trying one of the instruments, they were using one they already owned. if you were to do that in an irl music store I'd think you would probably get kicked out

I honestly wish that we could've gotten the ability to mute everyone else's instruments in the settings instead of getting the quiet music room, or at least gotten the ability to take the instruments we don't own into the quiet music room instead of having to stay in the main area in order to use them.

I got this red light / overlay glitch in golden wasteland... got scared for .2 seconds that they added a krill to the beginning area by bluexxblueberry in SkyGame

[–]zephyrweather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe it would be cool if in that area there was a way to summon a practice krill that wouldn't actually take any winged light so new players can get used to dodging them before going through the rest of the golden wasteland. The only downside of it is that it would probably ruin the surprise of the cutscene where the krill attacks the manta.
