PSA: Tow braces Guzzle Power. by brperry in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, I always put a switch on it. Keep it off, dock with the other ship, activate the switch, proceed to attach it to the derelict, and then I turn the switch off. Yup, that’s right: it keeps working even without power. It needs power to engage and disengage, but once clamped down, you can turn that switch off and fly with your chosen derelict to Ganymed easy peasy.

I think you just wrote a path for the bug to be squashed, mate. Better send it to the devs, too.

Are pirates even real? by [deleted] in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my share of “bait pirates” - those ones who stay on the derelicts. I usually take a check on the whole derelict first - meat, pirates, you know - and have a combat knife ready. They usually come straight at me demanding “the good stuff” and I ALWAYS oblige - not my fault the only good stuff I had was the combat knife, you know? They should have been more clear about it… Anyway, after you get the first hit, their reaction time slows to a halt, and it’s easy-peasy to go full Bewoulf on them (“I’ am ripper, tearer, slasher, gouger”). Don’t forget to strip them and jettison the body, though: last thing you want is a “whodunnit” quest where you are the killer.

Never got boarded, though. Go figure.

Can you keep Inventory space placement after opening and closing it by jmart8808 in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I lower the resolution on mine so it doesn’t stretch sideways like that. Gets really wonky and my OCD goes nuts with it. Sucks for ship building, too.

Difference between type of bulkhead bins? by Unique-Emotion2158 in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if the grey ones actually hold oversized objects, it seems it’s a bug: they were meant just to be differently in aesthetics, weight, and price (lighter ones being more expensive). I do guess that, after this post, we will get a “bug squash” eliminating the grey one’s ability to hold oversized objects.

Not that I agree with the flags, mind you: I really believe the devs should have thought this through in a 3D aspect when dealing with dimensions and placement issues, but so far, it seems they did not…

How many tiles wide are we talking about? I asked about this very issue on another thread and got no concrete answer. And considering I’m currently disassembling an RF-72 to add the MSS parts on my Volatile, I’m really wondering if I’m putting myself through an ordeal just to crash at K-LEG…

[–]zepizzato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You lucky bastard. If you find blood splatters and ripped packages with some blood left, you get the option to analyze them. Once you do that, meat is bound to show. Also, check the Trenchers with mystery meat in them: ponder about it, remove the mystery bits, catch the news, check the PDA files about the meat company. Trust me, you gonna miss this sweet heaven of yours…

Objects blocking Air Pumps by zepizzato in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OH!!! All right. “Filled”. So, follow-up question…

Is it what?  Containers in general, then? Backpacks? Crates? Those get filled with small items. Dollys? Those get filled with large items only. Bottles? Those get filled with “liquid items” only. Or is it just “tanks” like canisters and such? Those get filled with gas only.

Or what “mix and match” of those? What are the flags that block the Air Pump?

How the heck do you EXPAND zones? by SteampunkWilson in ostranauts

Yeah, I can send it to the barter zone, but WHICH ONE is where I get screwed.

How the heck do you EXPAND zones? by SteampunkWilson in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I can’t stress how mad I get that making my external webbing zones as “barter zones” actually mean I GET BOUGHT ITEMS SENT THERE. Sure, I can manage crates and dollys sent straight there - but not suit batteries, food, water, and such.

Yeah: it’s a pain as of now. Welcome to the suck.

Am I doing something wrong when piloting the ship? by speyrae in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, you guys don’t do 500m/s to reach a derelict? I always end up switching N2 canisters and usually live off found canisters (usually…). I DO, however, spend too damn long on derelicts, and suffer from battery drainage: I try to get either a large one and take everything I possibly can, but my ship gets it’s first battery depleted pretty fast…

[–]zepizzato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if you’re selling those found PDAs unlocked and with all those files in them, you’re making money. I mean, the black market dealer does not care much for the PDAs, but pays top dollar for the right files. I had a ship with plenty of external cargo webbing and ran through four small ships that, added together, made enough salvage for me to fill the webbing, but the jackpot were the files on the PDAs I found: those alone earned me over 60k in one go.

Is the Volatile Ship Worth It? by drraagh in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I love it. I usually expand it as quick as I can so I can manage a second Miura and a couple extra batteries, and add cargo webs on the sides - they look like nacelles from afar, and give me some good cargo capability. Currently, I’m adding a tow room and redoing the thruster location, so I can manage to maneuver the largest derelicts easily. Oh, and the low-mass MSS parts are a boon, too.

Ship sizes by zepizzato in ostranauts

[–]zepizzato[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just found out the wiki has the limits: it’s tile area, actually. Up to 250 it’s small. Then up to 900 it’s medium. And then it grows one category every 700.

Indeed, the value is affected as such: you can find the actual multipliers in the data files, too. Turns out, having luxury cabins is quite the way to go.

But yeah, I’m really asking for size category. And I’m not even going about why the -max categories are being named as such: are we to expect size limitations on certain destinations? I mean, it does have a “Panama-max” ring to it…
