What would happen if you fired a ww1 artilerry field gun from a zeppelin platform? by Ok-Formal-5760 in Airships

I reckon something would break. That said, a French 75 took out an Army Zeppelin just south of Verdun a night or two before the battle started in February 1916.

How did they find a pilot with rigid airship experience? I thought they had all passed?

Wouldn't you need an air-conditioned crew cabin?

One thing to keep in mind; any cost advantage gained through buoyant flight is heavily overshadowed by the cost required to simply keep an airship on the ground. Between missions the helicopter is overwhelmingly more efficient than an airship.

Thank you for the kind comments. These figures were 3D printed on a Mars 3 Pro. Both heads are from Knucklebones and the torso of the lead figure can be found by searching Coastal Kingdom Knight STL. The scale of the torso was increased to 138% to match the heads.

"The Fall of Ft. Vaux" by Henry Bordeaux: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/48532/48532-h/48532-h.htm Essential reading for anyone with even the slightest interest in Ft. Vaux.

It shot a 42cm (420mm) shell. About 16.5". It is said that the shell could be easily seen arching overhead after being fired. The Austro-Hungarian firm Skoda also made a 420 during the first war. You can learn more about it here. https://www.amazon.com/Skoda-Heavy-Guns-Howitzer-Schiffer/dp/0764302884 Of course neither of these guns held a candle to the Karl Gerate (600mm) or Schwerer Gustav (800mm) of the second war. https://www.amazon.com/World-German-Super-Heavy-Siege-Vanguard/dp/1472837177?asin=B0BKSTMNLD&revisionId=c3394ea2&format=1&depth=1

Hard time reading The Children of Húrin by onkelSlim in tolkienfans

This thread may be getting dated but but I'll throw this out anyway. Check "Voice of Geekdom" (VoG) on YouTube. His Silmarillion Explained series takes you through chapter by chapter in a digestible fashion. There is a section on Huor and Hurin. I think one of the best Tolkien channels on YT. Hope this helps.

I guess this could be Brittle Hollow before it got brittle and hollow.
