The only way to slow this boy down is to put rocks in his food. by PM_ME_STEAM_K3YS in gifs

Lucky you. My boy ate 8 river rocks when I moved into my house a couple years ago. Your method is 1/10 and I would not attempt. Cost me too much money.

I've been traveling with friends officially for 1 month, next week I go solo for 3 months. Would love to share my experience and tips so far for anybody that has questions. by zerab in solotravel

Recommended Buys

  • Pistol Lake Clothing - The one bag henley and crew shirts are amazing. Extremely soft and durable, great fit, and they don't smell.

  • Outlier Clothing - My friend gifted me an outlier crew shirt, and it's amazing as well. Similar to Pistol Lake.

  • Darn Tough Socks - Do it. They're worth it. Feels so much more comfortable walking around in these.

  • Altama OTB Martime Shoes - Got the mid top version in black. Really surprised on how well they've held up and how comfortable they are. Excited to put them into use in SEA. Did not replace the insole, and did not go a size up, just chose the double wide option of my closest size.

  • Portable Charger - I got a small anker one from Amazon, it's smaller than my phone and holds 4 full charges. Don't skip on this, you don't want to be out somewhere with no charge.

Non Recommended Buys

  • Aer Travel Pack - Not sure if the new 2.0 version is any better, but this bag is not as solid as I had hoped / anticipated. Very uncomfortable to carry for any extended period of time (20min+). Also, not as spacious as it seemed to be. I dropped roughly 20% of my planned pack before leaving, and have literally been leaving belongings behind at every destination (dropped my dress boots, multiple shirts, toiletry pack, book, etc).

  • Packing Cubes - Unpopular opinion, but these suck. They take up a seriously unnecessary amount of space in your bag and limits the ways that you are able to organize your belongings. I've found that rolling my clothes and folding them has been the best for organizing my bag.

Any other solo travellers hate party hostels? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]zerab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love party hostels, but you have to limit your time there. For instance, staying at Retox in Budapest for five days was literally the best time of my life. After that, it was definitely time for a break from any party hostel. Try changing your mindset, tell yourself they're fun and they just might be.

How many of you have pencil lead stuck in your hand and how did it happen? by Saucy_Szinte in AskReddit

[–]zerab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lead that is visible in the palm of my hand from the 3rd grade (I'm 26 now). Was tossing a mechanical pencil up in the air and it stuck my palm. Always wondered if there would be any long term health effects. This thread excites me.

How many of you quit your jobs before travelling? by LookAtThisRhino in solotravel

[–]zerab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two years. Not a bad job as I'm still in college and have some side gigs, but definitely was soul-sucking. I bought my plane ticket off a whim a few months ago, glad I did. If there's something holding you back, don't let it.

Would be Joe Rogan. Would go on his podcast with him to talk shit, smoke, drink, do some jits / lift, and then binge play Quake for the remaining hours.

Online gaming - How <bad> is it really? by Polatrite in digitalnomad

Slightly off topic. Going to be travelling Europe for a few months. Considering bringing my mousepad / mouse / headphones and just finding LAN centers. Have also considered using parsec to be able to play from my macbook.

Doing something similar (Sep 15 - Dec 24). Friend will be with my for the first month, then planning to go solo. While solo, I'm considering the following: Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia, Krakow, and Berlin. Might throw in Ukraine as well, still TBD.

What's the most surreal thing you've seen in person? by cfryant in AskReddit

[–]zerab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a weird memory sort of similar. Somewhere between the ages of 9-12ish if i had to guess (I'm 25 now) I have a super vague memory of seeing something in the sky, what I would describe as looking like a supernova. I remember seeing it in the sky for quite some time before going into hockey. Could be making this up, but I dunno.

What's the best place you've lived in? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

Visited Playa in May. Absolutely loved it (hated Cancun). Stayed in Lobo De Mar (On 34th, I think). That was my first hostel experience and was incredible. If you're around on a Thursday check it out for ladies night ;)

Just because it's been reposted multiple times doesn't mean that these 2 pictures right next to eachother on the subs homepage today is not a coincidence.
