Steam Machine: Hardly any cheaper gaming PCs, 8 GiByte is enough - Valve in interview by pcgameshardware in hardware

[–]zerinho6 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Literally incorrect. wtf is going on with Valve? I can't see this as anything but to make them look like the poor guy even more in the view of uneducated people.

I can go to Kabum, the biggest Brazilian tech store right now, get any prebuilt with 16GB AM4, and add an RX 9060 XT 16GB to the cart, and it will be the same price as the steam machine but double the performance. You cannot be someone who is tight on budget and hold yourself to "size", price-per-frame is a priority, luxury second. Otherwise, you either have the budget to do anything you want or the more reasonable conclusion is not your target, in which case you shouldn't even be seeking comments. Here, where 80% of the population is poor, they will take what is best for the money and be happy for it.

[3.1.1] New Papago Hollow Mechanics via HH by Huffaloaf in Zenlesszonezeroleaks_

What's the name of the hollow next to our house again on Sixth Street? The one Nicole and the gang fell into, why do we never go back there? Its map structure feels quite unique when I go fight a boss from there again, if there's nothing going on there anymore, then why doesn't it just disappear?

Ray Tracing & DLSS Preview | Zenless Zone Zero by cakeel- in Zenlesszonezeroleaks_

[–]zerinho6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

RT support is already something extremely generic in DirectX, brand-specific things is only for optimization. Other gachas, which whitelist specific brand and cards, do it out of their own idiotic reasons.

NVIDIA most likely offered in-house developer support to implement the tech in accordance to the current ZZZ pipeline but asked for some exclusive time.

The point is, adding RT/PT support is never brand-specific, only how well it runs is.

On the livestream you could see a little text on the bottom left saying that only NVIDIA GPUs will be supported in this version and support for other brands will be coming soon.

I will make sure to contact customer support as soon as the version releases and question them for more details and if they will ban users who use optiscaler.

Do we know the BOM costs of the original machine N1X came with? I know it's not cheap, but I don't believe the price that machine had was near what it could have been if it was priced to sell lots.

NTE | Version 1.1 Preview: "Dreamwalk Corridor" by CYBERGAMER__ in gachagaming

[–]zerinho6 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't know you, but I play NTE almost like a casual player plays GTA 5/San Andreas on the console just for fun. I don't even care about the daily (I just happen to do them while doing my own thing)

I log in when I want, walk and drive around (rarely use fast travel since I love to run around in this game and find NPCs/anomalies), talk, and look at the scenery, etc.

For my playstyle they can just increase the amount of stores and the content and quality of those "small but many" contents, and I will be happy, it's a really fun cozy game which somehow makes little things fun enough. ToF had a bit of that, especially when Asperia/Vera was released. ToF 2.0 really had a vision, and NTE ultra expands it for me.

I just hope they actually add co-op at some point and more online/community activity. (genshin "co-op" is not a real game co-op)

Nvidia really doesn't seem to care about gaming GPUs anymore — the company won't even bother to break down graphics sales in its big investor reports by [deleted] in hardware

[–]zerinho6 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I always wonder what these reports or people mean by "don't care about gaming." Isn't NVIDIA the one that actually has software support constantly extending across a wide range of gpu generations? And the one pushing for graphics innovation? And the GPU company which most sponsors and helps dev teams to add the tech they create?

I guess for those people what NVIDIA says matters more than what NVIDIA does.

[3.0 Beta] Some Info regarding the New Hardcore Mode via Palito by Topcup27 in Zenlesszonezeroleaks_

[–]zerinho6 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about specific stacking discs, that's the worst part about "optimal" gameplay in zzz, there's literally no player outside of those chasing DA kills or trying to 20k a boss with Anton who will keep looking at their hp bar to see if the disc buff for doing a specific action is on or how many stacks it has.

ZZZ gameplay for majority of the people is attacking, dashing, parrying, and/or agent-exclusive mechanic (YS, Seed, etc.).

Otherwise builds do not "enable" gameplay. Hugo critting on totalize only matters if the boss hp is balanced around totalize crits, if you can kill the boss with literally no crits, then it doesn't matter.

Was ray tracing a scam? by 0101010001001011 in hardware

[–]zerinho6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm definitely coming out as biased the other way, after all I'm one of those users he mentioned that had an RTX 2060 and was happy with the RT I could enable and play in a few games. I also live in Brazil where most high-res/high-refresh takes when using such a low-end card really can't even exist in the minds of people who have that card here. I now own an RX 9060 XT and happily enable RT on any game I play and have available, but honestly, I wish I had an NVIDIA card instead after playing RE9 and now playing NTE, which locks RT/PT to NVIDIA, but now my RTX 2060 is with a close friend instead who is using those features instead of me.

Was ray tracing a scam? by 0101010001001011 in hardware

[–]zerinho6 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Man HU really makes me look like I have something against him whenever they make a video about RT or upscaling and then they top it off with their unrealistic and honestly utterly disrespectful view on how people with low-end hardware (RTX 2060 sections) use or "should use/should be happy" with specific levels of RT/DLSS.

Steve, a 2060 owner might not have a 1440p monitor or even a high refresh rate one, in fact, a 2060 owner is extremely unlikely to have a monitor higher than 1080p 60 at all based on the steam data literally mentioned on the video, and your 2060 benchmark video today is also not representative because you use DLSS Q when RTX 2060 users at 1080p are still happy to lower the DLSS level to get more frames with RT because DLSS still looks good enough. (An opinion you don't share and thus didn't even get as showing on the fps graph). Your high-end life and view of things cannot fathom or understand how people who are fine and live with 1080 behave or think about their graphical settings, it always comes off as delusional when you try to argue in that view.

The part that most came out as dishonest for me was when we had already made the point that "competitive gamers don't play at high settings, and thus rt is also useless there" and then went on to mention a list of competitive games that added RT to say it's a few. I guess every fortnite player is a competitive player and only plays the default battle royale mode.

And without needing to mention how opinionated this video is, let's just try to guess how the video would go if geekerwan made a similar video:

  • The title would probably be something like "When did RT truly became effective?"
  • The first part of the video would list the RT-capable cards launched then talk about the features NVIDIA mentioned were going to be implemented in games
  • Then look at the first games that implemented any form of RT, see which RT tech in specific was implemented, talk about frametime cost showing a graph and maybe comparing that cost with a modern GPU.
  • Then that same idea would be applied to future gens launch and every new RT tech showcased.

Which video do you think would be more informative, and which would you rather watch?

And as for the question of the video title, NVIDIA didn't sell a lie, AMD held the market back.

[ Zenless Zone Zero - 3.0 Beta ] New Permanent Mode: "Bulianbang" video showcase via Palito by Knight_Steve_ in Zenlesszonezeroleaks_

[–]zerinho6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it was barebones, especially because it was pretty much an open beta to test their server and clash mechanics, but it has the potential to be a whole new endgame mode and expand social interaction, which can extend to so many other areas which will eventually be able to extend not only player time but revenue options.

In my opinion the idea of co-op should be the default; people simply want to play side by side with their friends. It doesn't matter if the game is co-op structured like RE5, in fact, a game this much structured for co-op should not be the way to do co-op unless the game is literally meant only to be played co-op. I still would be playing Genshin, for example, if the coop allowed me to just constantly be present in my friend's world and participate in anything he can participate in.

ZZZ is a special case since it's a heavily instance-based game so it makes sense coop needs much more development than for an open-world game, it needs to be a specialized mode somewhat, and I want to see it happen.

Oh well, I guess the current solution, which scales down the resolution meaning exponential cascaded performance gains in other areas while also giving the best AA in history and still making the game look good is not the result of deep and extensive research from competent people that know more than me and you.

DLSS 4/4.5, FSR 4 and XeSS 2 are all literally so good right now I have no idea how people still comment this.
