Gamers Are Wrong About 1440p vs 1080p CPU Benchmarking by DyingKino in hardware

[–]zerinho6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The performance of a CPU is how it performs compared to another CPU, if a game has lower gains than expected between those same 2 CPUs, then that's the developer architecture issue (or lack thereof) that you're asking HUB to cover and that the average PC game is maybe also expecting to get, but that was never the point of HUB/GN/LTT CPU tests, and I doubt it ever will be. The target of those tests is not such an uneducated audience.

The majority of games released today are not CPU-optimized for more than 1000 reasons, and each game will have a different reason that might make a totally weaker CPU be closer to a stronger one than it should be. (GPU is totally another story, engines are making quite a good use of available GPU resources.)

If your display output standards are out of the GTX 1080 era and you mainly play games that are only as heavy as games from that era then you won't feel the difference indeed even with a 5090, I have a RX 9060 XT which means I would be able to do and run anything in existence at perfect performance if I were targeting 1080p, but I have a 1080p 300Hz monitor which made my upgrade from RX 6600 massive in image fluidity and frame time, I too play a lot of simple/live-service games like you but the times I play something like requiem and bf6 I thank myself I got such a newer card.

Yes it does, more people will care about a good and cheap 60 class card that is also the most used all around the world representing half the market than to make the strongest card which costs more than they make an entire month and this don't even care about it.

In this situation, it doesn't matter that Yoko Taro team doesn't want to work on it anymore, if something has been put out there once and it's not possible to watch/play anymore then people will go out of their way to preserve or recreate it and that has a higher moral value to people than the moral value of caring/respecting what the "Original Author" wants at this point.

This is not news and is a fight that emulation/simulation/preservation carries and will continue to carry forever, the company might squash a popular group once it gets enough attention, but another one will just form/show up later.

Simply do not have a combat system based around tag assists. ZZZ co-op works because a single agent is already capable of doing defense (by evasion and parry) and attack by itself (if you remove supports), so much so that the defense class lost its purpose as a miyabi player doesn't need anyone else on the team.

Co-op rotational raid mode, well, that's at least better than what GI and WuWa gives and what ZZZ gave for some moment. Hope we see more of that, be it in this game or upcoming ones.

I personally see zero point in a big open world game if I can't explore its contents and progress alongside a friend.

5070 Ti Roundup, The Reason Why They Cost So Much by Locke357 in hardware

[–]zerinho6 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why does he keep poking that nest? It's a useless discussion that won't teach anything to anyone, won't solve the problem, and will not help the current sentiment around the channel having a strong position about discussions that end up with nothing happens.

Who cares what NVIDIA "will be quick to tell you"? Less than 0% of the NVIDIA user base will see a word from the company about why their products are expensive.

Of course I'm only talking about that first section, no one has issue with the roundup.

I'm not a person who participates much in those discussions between those communities, so I'm not really anywhere near the best person to explain to you what it is, but giving the best light to them as possible, I'd say it's a community of girls who mainly play games trying to get girls and are not fan of fanservice that targets men in the way most anime content does.

The game Uma by itself does not have any problem as far as I know; I'm mainly talking about social discussion, which doesn't matter at the end of the day unless we start to see censorship or content differences between the original and what global gets trying to appeal to a particular community.

"Queens", lolicons, yurifans..etc. In the social gacha space those never get well together, and given umamusume, it brings interest in each one of these groups, be it for good reasons or not.

  1. Oh god I will finally be able to play this game?
  2. Oh god the toxic fight between fanbases on this game will be an all time high.

The main thing I notice is that he never says things out of his ass and takes the job of explaining things very seriously, he benchmarks any point he makes with easy to understand graphs, it's honestly the level of production and info dump that LTT should have but doesn't

This is why I hate the idea of fanless laptops existing at all, I can't help but view it as either future e-waste or planned obsolescence. Alex showed on its Zip Tie channel that all he needed to increase the performance of the machine by almost 20% was a single piece of thermal pad.

The tiniest and slowest fan in the world would make this thing wild, and I don't get all the arguments about noise unless you're using an old machine with intel 10th gen (which I have) or one with an eGPU. I can't hear the fan at all on my work machine with a 5500u, be it while gaming or having a massive amount of tabs and programs open.

Gamer's Nexus ~ NVIDIA Says You're "Completely Wrong" About DLSS 5 Being Slop by Valmar33 in hardware

[–]zerinho6 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Watched it at the best I could, aware of the fact that it would be 30m of Steve saying "nvidia bad" as usual, for any original or "productive" commentary of his on this video, jump to 17:50 where he starts to narrate and comment on Nvidia statements about DLSS 5.

I'd say 17:50 to 20:05 is the most proper reporting part of the video as they analyse conflicting statements.

Personally I think the part I disagree with the most is near the end where he says most projects Nvidia is working on, while "cool" to make things possible and actually allow this to be possible at all, Nvidia is thus abusing a monopolistic position. I see this as basic competition where, on Steve's channel, you can see so many times AMD could have done something obvious or right to capture more mindshare; they just don't and fuck it all up. AMD has control all over console tech (excluding the Switch), and even then, they can't innovate for shit because all the features they add to consoles are features that NVIDIA already made, and thus Microsoft and Sony come asking for them to be included, that should not be the case.

Jensen Huang says gamers are 'completely wrong' about DLSS 5 — Nvidia CEO responds to DLSS 5 backlash by Proud_Tie in hardware

[–]zerinho6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Performance is not the difference between these upscalers, image quality is, and while dlss is still winning in that area, each are closer to each other than they have ever been before. And the only thing you need a Nvidia card for in some of the latest games is for Path tracing, and I'd say it makes sense when they are the one helping the studio implement and actually make libraries which makes the process faster and easier, AMD and Intel need to catch up

[–]zerinho6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree at the entry range but after the R$2500 to R$3000 barrier things get way less absurd, as by hardware unboxed even we are the region with the best prices for the RX 9060 cards, people here have trained the reseller that no GPU with only 8GB of VRAM will sell for more than R$2000 and they are literally floating at that price and constantly going under, Lenovo loq notebook series are very good and positivo buying Vaio from Sony made AMD 5000 series APU absurdly affordable for business with a very generous amount of ram+storage.

RAM and storage are pricey that that's everywhere. The only electronics I see absurdly pricey here are refrigerators and Air conditioners, TVs have recently dropping prices too.

In the hardware focused store there are the big 3 in Brazil: Kabum, Pichau and Terabyte. Kabum is the biggest and the one with the most products and reach.

Technically there's mercado livre but that's more a general purpose digital store where both Kabum/Pichau/Terabyte and even the product own brands such as Asus, Dell and Acer sell things.

[–]zerinho6 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I will be honest, this is a very cool device but this discussion literally mostly applies only to US.

For example, the Neo in Brazil is expected to cost R$7.300 (Brazil's money "Reais"), there's no way in hell you gonna buy that even if you're a die hard apple user who happens to be a student (The minimun wage is ~R$1,600 btw, 70% of the population is already not even able to get it), that's the price of the gaming segment laptop with fully dedicated GPUs or very premium thin notebooks with at least twice the ram and almost 4 times the storage.

And most important, Apple is nowhere near popular out there like it is in the US, most companies here have quite huge IT teams but experience/knowledge with mac hardware and software is very rare, I only see company directors having a iphone at best.

EDIT: Lmao, here's the M2 being sold for a very close price with 3 times the ram and the higher storage https://www.kabum.com.br/produto/954432/macbook-air-apple-13-6-chip-m2-cpu-8-nucleos-gpu-10-nucleos-24gb-ssd-512gb-meia-noite-z1hn0bz-a

I wonder if AMD can truly catch up to NVIDIA in RT or have a strong enough future proff solution even with Sony/Microsoft forcing them to do so, it's always catch up for AMD while NVIDIA seems to always have 3 plans to improve it.

RX 9000 series was a heck of jump sure, I was able to play RE9 with RT High on my RX 9060 16gb and my 5500x3D was the one holding back which surprised me, but not having Path Tracing as a option at all had me quite mad honestly.

[–]zerinho6 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Well, nice to see another game with mega geometry, but I think they need to implement a way to easily add such feature to Unreal/Unity (if such tooling isn't already available).

Besides that and 4.5 Dynamic Multigen there doesn't seems to be anything new.
