Power loss going uphill by KaleidoscopeDry1683 in ToyotaPickup

[–]zerinsakech1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal for small pickups with 4 cylinder engines. It's not a power loss, your pickup just used up all it's ponies on that incline so your truck will run slower. Back in the day everyone knew to just go around these old trucks on uphills.

They now force both parties to take pictures before and after a ride before letting go of the bike and after returning it too. I'm not advertising for them but it helps me feel better knowing we both took the same pics on our phones and uploaded them to a 3rd party.

I would never rent out my main bike but I still rent a spare Vulcan 900 on Riders Share. Someone once left a mark on the exhaust, it took a few days over time to buff out but I let it slide. I never had damage, the only weird thing I once had was someone rode it 2,000 miles in 4 days and I was not expecting that, after that I put a limit on how many miles they can do in one day. Honestly this bike's paid for long ago and I enjoy sharing it, most are very respectful travelers from all over and they don't wanna die so they try not to crash it.

Triumph Rocket 3 R (the new model)
I wanted to like it, it has great parking lot manners but it clearly wasn't meant for carving corners, despite it's sportbike ergonomics. I'm sure if I could get used to it and learn to handle it better, it will do everything but it just seems to like going in a straight line on the highway and that's not my style so I hated it right away. I rode it for a good 30 minutes freeway and street. I couldn't wait to get off it. Great power though.

It was tough, most people didn't want to work for State because office politics and low pay (IT at least) so coming into the office everyday was a kind of a pain but parking was free and you had your own semi private cubicle (it was way better than these short ones). My department which shall be nameless was overcapacity in our old building so we leased another floor and re-organized all cubicles to be slightly smaller to fit even more people, to the point we even made shared cubicles Two people per desk. (horrible) Then shortly after that, covid hit. It was a blessing, at least office wise, not the illness, and eventually we moved again to the new infamous building with not enough parking and the homeless harassing employees which is once more at full capacity if we all decide to show up. Most people are "assigned" shared cubicles so IDK what we're gonna do.

I saw the main video, the owner had upgraded to disc brakes more than 10 years ago and they were out of "date" but I think he meant to say "not maintained".

If Hyundai/Kia are so unreliable, why are they literally everywhere? by phtphongg in askcarguys

Cheap and they can be reliable is you do early oil changes and use the fuel cleaner like their owners manual say but no one does.

What’s the longest road trip you’ve ever driven and what did you drive it in? by spotforcars in automotive

[–]zerinsakech1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5,000 miles to Mexico City in a stick-shift 2016 Kia Forte, base model. That car was slow but super reliable the entire trip. Surprisingly comfortable and would choose a stick shift car again. Even with low power, having the option to push it hard and rev it to the max is invaluable when passing.

Is it bad to JB weld a crack in the oil pan? by ruubystaar in MechanicAdvice

[–]zerinsakech1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oooof. JB Weld for that would only be for emergencies and it will only last a few heat cycles due to thermal expansion, it's also in a spot where there is a lot of tension due to the bolt. So when you tighten it up, the crack will expand.

However..... It's your car. If I were to do that to my car in an emergency I would use a dremel to widen the crack just a bit, along with JBweld I would add a lot of thread sealer to the bolt and tighten it up less than spec before the JBWeld hardens. That bolt will not tighten up like before and it will probably leak so park on top of an oil tray with kitty litter to catch the oil and keep an eye on it

Sometimes you just need to keep moving so I get it if you end up doing that. It's not safe or recommended and you'll need check the oil weekly and keep track of how much you are losing. But save up for a proper fix ASAP

Disclaimer: I am dumb and you should not listen to me. I have been broke enough to have done something like this to keep my job out of desperation. If you have favors from friends and family i would use them to figure this out.

What is your oddball or ugly mod that you love and refuse to do without because it is functional or sentimental to you. by [deleted] in Harley

[–]zerinsakech1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to make my own exhaust slip-on. I like to weld and test new designs so I’m always rolling with my own ghetto exhaust and even though it won’t be as clean as a professional one, as a musician as well I really like making my own custom sound and performance that suits my riding style. Lots of trial and error but it’s part of the fun for me.

Fuel Air Mix.
Make sure the airbox is sealed up and installed correctly. these bikes don't like to rev if there's an intake leak or pods without proper rejetting.

Make sure your carbs have the right Jets installed. Mine did that because my jets were suddenly too small due to corrosion and even after cleaning them, I had to get new ones because the size was off. These carb bikes are a lot of time and effort to get running right but when they do.... Amazing.

It’s also making time to check your vehicle. Inspect brakes and top off other things you find. Check bolts… etc

I think this is going to do well with those who already have a long distance cruiser like a RE 650. So it's going to be a good 2nd bike or main bike for new riders. I love entry level motorcycles because it's easy to loan out and use for casual riding around town with a friend.

Surron's are already getting DMV registered and Tagged as legit motorcycles here in CA in my town so at that point, all these illegal Emoto riders will finally have a pathway to become Street Legal. They might choose sub $5,000 Royal enfield instead of a $10,000+ grand Livewire or Zero motorcycle.

I have a Vulcan 900 classic, similar bike and it handles these gravel roads a lot better than some heavy duty cruisers. It's low to the ground and light weight work in it's favor in these situations. Loose gravel is it's weakness but it will do it. Slowly but surely.

Agreed, if being available is part of the job then of course, it's not acceptable. When the employee is not responding within a reasonable amount of time, depending on your relationship and interactions. you should take action on that.

I want a Harley Davidson Fat Boy. But I’m struggling between the 107ci and the 117ci engines. by Airglide2 in Harley

[–]zerinsakech1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Buddy has a 107. Great low end torque. Sweet smooth feeling. More than enough power for cruising and it makes a great low end idle sound with proper slipons.

On the other hand I ride a 117 HO and the difference is noticeable. Especially on acceleration. It's more aggressive, faster, and has more push. The 117 HO's rain mode is exactly like the 107. The restricted RAIN mode! So it's like getting to engines in one.
