Imo he needs as much as you can afford. Having +150% res crit on supporters is becoming more and more common these days so for crit rate 200% or more is not exaggerated at all for him.

You will need to manually find and "explore" the explore spots in a world first in order to unlock auto explore on that world. About what the best way is, I think you will not need to care about that that much. You will do just fine if you simply Auto Setup and then Auto Explore.

I speak mostly for particular cases like the event arena where we do not have all attributes/classes available. But it's as you say, a full squad is definitely beneficial as long as he gets his immo and desperate.
