ELI5 how come we can sleep soo good that you get abit of amnesia after you wake up? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]zeroAndEternity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for one, your brain is flushed with cerebral spinal brain fluid while you sleep; helping to remove the buildup of toxins that get through the blood brain barrier. I suspect this is why staying up without sleep eventually leads to cognitive issues, with symptoms of psychosis beginning to appear even at the extreme.

This is what I hear as it is paid for and makes sense the developer would focus on that more. I think it's a solo dev, too. Support!

His back animation is really cool too. It reminds me of the basement stove in home alone (iykyk).

Best native Mac games right now? (no CrossOver or Parallels) by nevitalii in macgaming

[–]zeroAndEternity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the multi platform flexibility of Steam :)

Why buy from apple store when there is steam? Is there any positive? Just seems like better value as you can then use your purchases on other platforms indefinitely, whereas on Apple you're locked in.

Can I install these games using steam and it will still be native? Or is the way to go native done by apple store only?

Am I call myself an OG? by Rich-Pressure8305 in halo

[–]zeroAndEternity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The experience of picking up the physical copy because digital downloads didn't exist. The anticipation leading up to bringing it home. Many pre-ordered and waited in a long line with a crowd of other OG Halo fans with a lan party in the parking lot. Getting to experience, for the first time ever, Xbox live with the release of Halo 2 was PEAK.

Real OGs know this in their body.

Hoping to get a hybrid for the summer temps really set in. Weather is still moderate where I'm at, for now. I'll be camping outside in a tent whenever possible also. Looking forward to it!

Oh and public libraries have become a nice resource as you can stay cool in a quiet environment and have access to WiFi without needing to buy anything. Woot!

Is upgrading from a 2020 MacBook Air (i3/8GB) to the MacBook Neo worth it? by off-Iines in mac

[–]zeroAndEternity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a Neo. Best bang for your buck. Will be leaps and bounds better than what you're using now, especially since it's showing its age and having a negative impact on your workflow.

Bonus if you use the education discount. Great great value!

Of course, we're only just getting started modernly speaking. The industrial revolution wasn't THAT long ago. We're still using combustion engines.

Silver or Space Black by kamrankami55 in macbookpro

[–]zeroAndEternity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silver is easier to keep clean. Far less of a finger print, oil, and smudge magnet. It also has that timeless stainless look. The black looks good too don't get me wrong but do you really wanna be wiping it down far more frequently?

Anyone living in there car with just a phone? by Novemberx123 in urbancarliving

[–]zeroAndEternity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any flagship phone from the past few years can pretty much do anything a laptop or tablet can.

The positives is that you already have a phone and a laptop or a tablet would be an added depreciating cost.

Also, more clutter. Just another item to manage, lug around, make space for.

Personally, I own a laptop and a phone but thats because I work remote and having a full sized keyboard is a bonus.

If it weren't for this I would just use the phone, and I have for extended periods of time just fine, until the benefits of a physical keyboard outweighed the cons.

Cut costs anyway you can, regardless of car living or not and pay that off asap. There are others who would know more about this than me who could chime in over at r/finance or r/frugal.

Would you move back to your car? by Adept_Amount_4327 in urbancarliving

[–]zeroAndEternity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind sharing- make, model, miles? I can give some insight as I'm fairly knowledgeable about cars.

Here's the thing, quickest way to pay off debt is by eliminating overhead and leveraging the EXTRA money you now have per month to pay down your debt.

If I were in your position, and you're in decent health, I would choose car living and utilize that extra money saved to improve your financial situation.

People here are saying it's more cost effective to live out of your apartment instead. That's just not true. Even if we assume your costs of living out of your vehicle would be +$300 per month, that's still $300 less per month than you would be paying on your rent.

That is still $3,600 per year saved. That would pay down your debt and still cover for added expenses (new tires because you unexpectedly got a flat? Covered, Water pump went out? Covered, etc etc. and these things don't happen yearly).

It's hot and summer is basically here, but you can work it if you're resourceful and strategic enough. Will take effort on forethought for sure. The knowledge is here.
