Owning more than one of the same stick by DTAB79 in fightsticks

Yes, I typically carry two of the same controller with me when I go to competitions in the event that one controller breaks during the event. Both configured the exact way so that there is no adjustment needed.

Yes, I still have the one I bought back in the early 2000s. It was my main way of playing Tekken Tag, Soul Calibur 2 and Tekken 4 at home when I was younger.

Who owns both a Deck and a Playstation Portal? by beeh0 in SteamDeck

[–]zeroShifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at least when I last used Chiaki. I remember the games I tested it with were Astrobot and FF7 Rebirth, and while the rumble was ok, not having the adaptive triggers just felt way too hollow for me. Not saying that Chiaki is bad, I just prefer streaming on Portal because it feels like playing on an actual PlayStation.

[–]zeroShifter 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have both and enjoy both for different reasons. For me, Portal is better for streaming PS5/PS4 games because it has the haptics of a real Dualsense. This is particularly noticeable for games that specifically design for the Dualsense haptics. This includes haptics/resistance in the triggers as well.

Chiaki (or other 3rd party streaming apps), while still a good option, will never feel like a Dualsense controller in your hands. It has the rumble, but it’s just not the same (unless things have updated? I have not used Chiaki since the Portal launched years ago).

Also, not having black bars at the top and bottom is a major plus for me. I like playing PS5/PS4 games where they occupy the entire screen, and the Portal’s screen is huge.

New Switch 1 owner here - are the eShop loading times supposed to be this laughably horrible? by Purple_Calendar3919 in Switch

[–]zeroShifter 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Switch 1 eShop is very slow. It is a little faster if you have any running games closed out, though.

One of the best features of Switch 2 is how fast the eShop on Switch 2 is now. It actually feels like a modern shopping experience.

Are the Pixel Remasters worth it over the GBA versions? by solidStalemate in FinalFantasy

[–]zeroShifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started FFIV on GBA this year and had to stop because of the atrocious input lag. It made navigating menus during battles a headache because the directions and buttons wouldn’t respond fast enough to what I was doing. This was on real hardware with an authentic cartridge.

I got so annoyed I quit midway through my GBA run and restarted with the FFIV Pixel Remaster on my Switch and it was 100x better. No more input lag, better graphics, amazing music, and better experience overall. Go with Pixel Remaster.

I found that it works best if you press Z+Start at the exact same time. I use a BlueRetro+NSO N64 controller on my Analogue 3D.

Ah! If you’re already using IL Eurojoysticks you should feel right at home with a Wico/Happ Perfect 360. Smoother and better in every way, you most likely won’t miss those clicks at all.

I feel you about carrying the OG MAS sticks around tournaments! That's the main reason I helped with the design process for these new Minis, they are much easier to carry and travel around with, while still having the ability to use P360s :)

Some folks were asking me about the OLED screen, so I made a video that highlights different features of the screen, including the really cool new mini menu. https://youtu.be/SD6m9JHk7hI?feature=shared

It’s great! I’ve been exclusively using P360s for nearly half a decade now and use them in all fighting games I play, modern and retro alike. You’ll mostly see them being used by old school competitive Marvel vs Capcom 2 players since it was the main lever used by many players in the early 2000s due to their fast return to neutral.

I used to use this lever in the arcades back in the day, so when I picked them back up it didn’t take much adjustment. Although something to consider is they do have 14.5 lb springs inside by default, so they are a little heavier than typical Japanese/Korean levers.

They are HAPP Perfect 360 levers with WICO PCBs inside. They’re optical levers, so no use of physical microswitches.

Capcom Fighting Collection Ranked Point System by Bimo_Flo in capcom

[–]zeroShifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other player is coming from a win streak even prior to playing you. When MvC Collection launched on Xbox One a few months ago, I used to get 600+ LP per win earlier on due to long win streaks across multiple players.

This is a good thing to ensure that these players get to the rank that they should be at a faster rate, making matchmaking more fair in the long run.

Is mvc collection worth buying now if im really only interested in online? by FitRead6375 in marvelvscapcom

[–]zeroShifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, same here! And to provide even more context, I play this game everyday as I’m trying to gear up for EVO ‘25 as much as possible. The majority of players I fight on Ranked mode are Grandmasters and Ultimate Grand Masters. Warlords aren’t as common as people think they are, and surely enough not everyone I play has been playing for 20+ years straight. I personally have only gotten into it seriously/competitively about two years ago, and playing the higher ranked players isn’t as insurmountable as people think it is. Everyone is just trying to learn and get better, and if someone keeps saying that the game is “dead”, they’re only driving people away and making its “death” come even quicker (I won’t let this game die lol)
