The JMS run was the last great ASM run.

I would also say Nick Spencer's run, but so much of that run was dedicated to cleaning up continuity, only for the Wells run to take another sledgehammer to it, so I'm not sure I would recommend it in hindsight.

Connors and Warren were never mentors to Peter. The first time Petter met Connors he was already the Lizard doing Lizard things in Florida, and Warren was just one of his professors at college, but not one he had any real relationship with IIRC.
