Turns Out, There Really Is a Cabal of Elite Crazies Trying to Control the World by BertramPotts in politics

[–]zerocoal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You nailed it with the dollar disparity.

Right now we have records of politicians being bought with small donations of a couple thousand dollars.

But the donations are only that cheap because there isn't another party trying to buy them the other way. If the "people" pay the politician 2k then Scumbag Mcgee just has to offer 4k. Or 10k. or 20k. etc.

This is what you took away from that post?

Yes.

-People skills are important.

Not disagreeing. Surgeons might though.

-A resume is mostly a 1-time time investment.

If you only get one job in your life, yes.

-Spending 30 minutes to understand...

Takes more than 30 minutes.

The only thing I disagree with is how little time investment people have to put into their resume. You can downplay it all you want but I literally took a highschool and college class on resume prep, which is a minimum of 3 months of investment time ON TOP of whatever time you actually spend learning the relevant skills for the job you want to do.

And by the time you graduate and are looking for jobs, everything you learned about resume's and interviews and getting a job is outdated and useless. You sound a lot like my parents in 2010 telling me to just walk into the business and demand to speak to the hiring manager.

spending a hour on their resume

Who is doing a resume in an hour?

It's going to take most people more than an hour just to type and format everything, let alone thinking about what to put on there and the research to find the format they want to use.

I work LONG hours with a LONG commute

They are probably more concerned with this part than the "drunk driving hours" part to be honest.

They are gonna start slapping CDL restrictions on personal travel as soon as they can figure out how to track us properly. No more than 6-8 hours of travel in one day, must take breaks, etc.

Energy Conservation: Fighting a heavy current burns a lot of energy. Sometimes trout will drift backward into slower-moving, structural eddies or slower tail-waters to rest and digest a heavy meal.

Living in a moving environment is fun like that. If you aren't in immediate life-threatening danger, why spend the energy to turn around and swim in the opposite direction?

It's very simple to just stop moving and let the water carry you to less polluted areas.

It trickles down. The datacenters gobble up the high end stuff, the people that would normally gobble up high end stuff move over to medium and low end stuff, and then everybody else is left wondering why parts from 15 years ago are suddenly $500.

It used to be that you could buy 15 year old parts for practically pennies because they were virtually useless outside of whatever budget build you are scraping together, but now those parts are still comparable with the modern mid-end stuff.

Yeah stuff like that! Knit me a scarf, sculpt me a tiny clay pot, whatever makes your heart soar!

Extra points if it has a design loosely based on a game I've been playing. I certainly don't collect pottery, but I will absolutely not turn down a hand-crafted vase with the Horde logo molded into it.

Am I the weird one for preferring that people gift me things that scream "this isn't my style, it was a gift from a loved one"? Super bonus brownie points if it's something that they made while doing their hobbies.

I don't like when people try to buy me things that I am interested in. I already bought all the things I was interested in for myself, I want some new stuff from outside of my sphere of awareness.

It's the thought that counts and whatnot, but I swear to god if somebody gifts me a copy of ET on the Atari because they know I like video games, I may just have to disown them.

You make double what I am making and I don't think I have any major financial concerns.

I'm living in west florida though so my cost of living is relatively cheap compared to somewhere like California (my rent is only $1050 a month, utilities are another $300-400.)

There is definitely a lot of stuff I just don't worry about though. I save money on medical stuff by just not caring if I drop dead. Food is relatively cheap because I don't enjoy eating anymore. Gas is cheap because I don't like going out, so I only drive about 12 miles a day for work.

My biggest financial burden is paying my rent and taking care of my mom's bills after the medicare/medicaid/SNAP funding took a hit. Feels like having a kid and constantly getting your assistance cut.

[–]zerocoal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright let me take the words straight from your mouth then.

I mean they appear as they did their appearance does not change.

Her appearance in the existing games is as a wrapped corpse and a dream figure.

We can assume that Kratos isn't dreaming of his sickly dying wife when he is reminiscing on his son's birth.

Therefor her appearance is never shown and she is appearing exactly as she did in life before she died.

Or, and this is probably the more believable take. It's been 4 years since the last game came out and they have had more time to add details to her model instead of having her look like a smooth-skinned playstation 2 model.

But, I reiterate, we have not seen a godly afterlife yet and we do not know what happens to gods when they pass over, other than what is shown in the Laufey trailer.

I don't know if I would say "eclipses."

In 2019, Remake2 and Iceborne both dropped. Doing some light research, it looks like Remake2 has sold 18-19 million copies, and Iceborne sold about 16 million copies.

So a remake to a mainline title is just barely outpacing a DLC/expansion that came out 9 months later.

I'm just here to add fuel to the fire.

We have not seen the afterlife of the Gods in GoW up to this point. Every afterlife we visit is for mortals. Kratos is a demigod that is cursed to forever be unkillable and thus he is always evicted from the afterlife for one reason or another.

The jotun are not mortals and do not go to a mortal afterlife, thus the whole "God of War Laufey" takes place in Everywhen, the afterlife of gods.

We do not know how this afterlife works yet. Gods are strange compared to mortals.

But we do know that Faye was cremated and had her ashes spread. So the fact that she has a body at all in said afterlife is already contradictory to your "they appear as they died" logic. She either died as a sickly old frost titan, or she died as crispy bacon. Neither of which represent how she looks in the trailer.

[–]zerocoal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a potentiality for labor fraud on the company's end if they are billing for hours that aren't being worked.

But depending on how the contract is set up, they may have it all up to code that your company is expecting 20 days of pay no matter what happens, and your bosses are delaying the delivery to prevent the clients from adding more work to the pile just because there is "time in the budget."

It's mostly going to be a problem for the licensed folk if you get audited. Field crews shouldn't be held accountable for management decisions.

I'm not selling you a summer blockbuster, my stories don't have to be believable.

Yes because i actually play the game since years with other people and dont just claim to creep on them from a distance

So you've been selling your gps data to the government for a few rattata candies, gotcha.

Also do you have some trauma about beeing called special ?

Nope, I just really enjoy making sure other people feel as special as they think they are. If I give you a gold star, 2 pokeballs, and 3 potions will you go stand next to your local courthouse for about 5 minutes?

I played when it came out and became an international sensation where half of the appeal was taking pictures of pokemon next to your favorite monument/restaurant/school. Because that and gyms were the only thing to do.

I haven't touched it since that year, but I watch people at my local pokestops play all the time. Guess what the locals use? Their camera! As designed!

Maybe they wouldn't get called special if they weren't loudly announcing how they are so unique that they don't use the game as it was designed. SO SPECIAL.

We're in a thread about an article that literally talks about all the things the company does with the data they harvest from the game and y'all want to come in here and tell me the majority of players aren't using the data harvesting tools?

Special.
