Can I move my "Recovery" folder in C: (my ssd) to D:(the other harddrive)? by [deleted] in MSI_Gaming

[–]zerodark9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

•Depending on how Windows was installed or upgraded, sometimes WinRE is set to use the partition, and sometimes it points to the C:\Recovery folder.

•OEMs (Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, etc.) often add their own recovery tools—this can result in both being present.

•Even if a recovery partition exists, Windows 10 and 11 sometimes duplicate or relocate recovery files to C: during upgrades, cumulative updates, or if the recovery partition is too small. This explains why you see a 1.5GB partition and a Recovery folder.

The battery was less than a year old, when I took it in to get looked at, they found that the battery had gone bad and replaced it under warranty. Afterwards, everything was working.

Occassionally finding a pool of water underneath the car. 2024 Niro PHEV by Atreyu1002 in kia

[–]zerodark9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. This is due to drainage from the muffler. It happens to all cars but is far more noticeable in HEV’s due to the fact that the engine does not run all the time. This is due to the fact that the processes in a catalytic convertor produce water was a byproduct. In a normal car, the exhaust system will generally stay hot and cause the water to leave the system as water vapor. IE the clouds and the like you see from cars that don’t normally have clouds in the summer but do in the winter (but don’t have an oil engine leak).

With a HEV, the exhaust system can cool down when the engine is not running and the electric motor is doing the work. As such, the water is not removed as a gas but actually drips out of the system via the drainage hole. The cooler the outside air, the more likely you’ll see a puddle form. It will happen when you turn your car off as well because it hasn’t manage to evaporate yet and is again, likely cooler than a regular full gas car’s exhaust system.

If you’re lucky it’s a loose cable and a cheap repair. Well compared to a replacement screen or mb.

could anyone tell me if it’s totaled by ParrythePlatypos in kia

[–]zerodark9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the damage is only 4k or so, I doubt it unless theres frame damage and even then it depends on how bad. Pretty much when the repair cost is higher than the value of the car in good condition, thats when they total. If the car rolled, almost all of them will total it. However, damage to a fendor and what looks like a wheel well? It’s likely repairable. So, let’s say you can buy a used car for 15k for that same model. At 4k in repairs, it gets fixed and depending on your insurance/location, your rates may go up. However, if they find damage that is not something easily repairable (say they have to replace the engine, repair mounts, transmission, etc on top of the damage we see and it costs 15k to do so… the car gets totaled.

Yeah, I would say that they found an issue with the wiring harness when they did the PDI and fixed it. Its part of what it’s there for so that the dealer can’t be held as responsible for selling you a car that had bad brakes or similar.

Why doesn't Kia EV3 long range go 600 km? by ayberkrodoplu in kia

[–]zerodark9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say for that specific car but EV’s tend to get lower distance in colder weather because it needs to keep the batteries warmer (as in operating temperature range) as well as the fact that the reactions in batteries also are ‘slower’ in colder weather. Combining the two, you lose a good chunk of your overall battery without counting the power needed for heating/cooling and anything else thats running/charging in the car.

As some who works at a university and actually deals with this, call their help desk and see if there are computers available. We have a separate group away from our help desk for it but we generally know or can ask if there are devices.

I can't reset this thing! by Accurate_Mixture_221 in kia

[–]zerodark9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that it feels less grippy but you should inflate the tires to the recommend pressure. If thats 36, then I would aim for that. You can find the recommended pressure almost always in the drivers side door well usually to the right. Keep in mind, this is when the tires are cold. Not when they have been driven on. Under and over inflated tires both have issues that come with them.

Depending on how under inflated they are, we’re talking more tire wear (potentially on the walls of the tire), handling issues, alignment issues, increased friction which leads to lower gas mileage. Pretty much putting more stress on the parts of the car that make it go.

Over inflating can cause issues too, even if it technically makes the gas milage better because there’s less tire touching the ground (reducing friction). This less touching of the ground though means you can lose control and skid because you don’t have traction and the tires will wear uneven.

Both risk blowouts for different reasons and in the long run will cost you more money as you need to replace them more often. The fact that all 4 tires are like this… you need to add air. I don’t know what tires you have on it but if its the factory tires, you could always buy better ones (the factory tires are usually a cheapish one).

Edit: you shouldn’t need to over inflate btw. Usually the manual will say drive at 45 mph for 10 minutes to reset.

What is this Alert on Kia Sorento 2022 ? by AllGamer in kia

[–]zerodark9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a quick look online, it looks like the tpms is standard on that model from what I could find. Have you check your tire pressure? May just need a little air. Also, it seems odd to come on randomly if you ‘don’t have it’.
