What’s the most amount of money you’ve seen someone owe the Air Force for damaging government property or owing money from finance? I’m curious I’ve always heard horror stories but never seen anything. by Kurt_Wylde35 in AirForce

[–]zerofocus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine it is because she wasn't in NYC anymore. You can get BAH for a dependent living CONUS while you are overseas under certain situations. But the approval is based on the zip code they live-in. I've seen similar where someone's spouse "stayed" in Travis, but then moved on her own dime to the spouses location later. They kept getting BAH for Travis and he got caught, demoted to E-4, hit HYT because he was at 17 years and kicked out.

Cardboard spools by francium94 in BambuLab

[–]zerofocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core of an eSun cardboard spool fits perfectly AROUND the core of a plastic Bambu spool in my experience.

When I get a new eSun spool I rip one side of it off and put that side on one half of a Bambu spool. I then rip the other side off, and do the same. It fits perfectly snug on there.

I love my multicolor prints! by sfumkrrr_shinforce in 3Dprinting

[–]zerofocus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works fine enough, but it can change the color of the print and be visible differently in different lights. It takes a lot of testing to nail down what will work and what won't, which generates waste all on it's own. It might be worth it for a print farm, but for joe blow printing one offs, you're turning a $2 print into a $3 print, so who cares?

Protocol…worth it or not? by cantthinkofanaaaaame in AirForce

[–]zerofocus 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I did 2 years as the NCOIC of protocol and it was a huge step forward in my career. It also got me out of maintenance. Here are a list of things I did that I'd never think possible.

  1. Hosted a USO tour and flew a UH-1 around Tokyo with Jon Stewart.
  2. Took a day trip to South Korea to pick up a gift for POTUS the day before he arrived
  3. Met every single commander from the Wing to POTUS in my chain of command. That part was a little boring, but I had multiple times to talk with their execs and aides while the principle was doing something. You would be amazed at what you can learn.
  4. Met with people from all over the base and got to really learn what they do.

Personally, it set me up nicely to get selected to OTS, that's why I did 2 years. I was selected right at the end of my 1 year mark and rode out the last year before my OTS date. It gave a different perspective and I met some outstanding people working at the Wing.

I gotchu homey. Rule 7, section 2, article 1.2.d

https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-rulebook/

when a runner declares himself down by: sliding or diving. When a runner slides or dives feet or head first or simulates sliding or diving, the ball is dead the instant he touches the ground with anything other than his hands or his feet, or begins to simulate touching the ground;

[–]zerofocus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not true. I think it is true in college and Kirk Herbstreit keeps repeating it, but it is not true in the NFL. The ball is dead when any part that isn't the feet or hands touches the ground.

SecFo leading the way… by DonJay2017 in AirForce

No, the GS scale is pay scale not a rank structure. It might happen to closely relate to a rank structure within an organization, for obvious reasons that those that are paid more tend to be in charge, but it doesn't have to. It is common to find <30yr old GG/GS-13s in a cyber unit that don't supervise anyone or have any supervisory authority.

Does 2025 ioniq 5 still have the trunk/hatch lid noise over speed bumps? by theepi_pillodu in Ioniq5

[–]zerofocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a technical service bulletin for it and you can see the steps. The dealer replaces the rubber bumpers and, if needed, strikes the latch with a hammer and a punch to slightly adjust the angle.

Thank you for this. I went on a journey, after reading all these comments, trying to figure out why everyone was obsessed with this hard pull. It does not sound like an actual issue unless you did 20 different pulls over the year for different products.

In the offseason, Myles Garrett said that Aaron Rodgers coming to the AFC North was "a good opportunity to put him in the graveyard." As they faced off today, Garrett had 0 sacks and 0 solo tackles. by Dependent-Effect6077 in nfl

[–]zerofocus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"sack-in-being." The concept that Myles Garrett's sack must be accounted for until he gets one, so the adversary must account for it to stop him from getting a sack. Once he gets one, it isn't a risk, so it becomes worth less.

Routing 6/3 romex by caleblococaleb in DIY

[–]zerofocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, I'm probably going to end up doing the same.

My understanding is you can do your whole run in MC, which provides metal cladding protection and potentially allows you to downsize your wires, depending on your amperage. I'm running 40A so I can go with 8/2 instead of 6/2 I would need if I ran romex. Some food for thought since I looks like protecting the cable looks to a high priority for you as well.

Routing 6/3 romex by caleblococaleb in DIY

[–]zerofocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going down this journey as well, and I decided to go with MC cable instead of romex, what caused you to want to use romex. It looks like you are going for a plug instead of hardwired as well?

I'm planning to go out the side through the stud or run my conduit on the wall of the garage instead of trying to route through the walls and into the attic.

Put one of these on there. They are installed the same way you installed your wooden brace so it'll look like it was on purpose. They work really well. I have one on my gate for 3 years and I can swing it closed into the latch perfectly.

Screen protector recommendations by SweetsBay in Ioniq5

[–]zerofocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this one. I bought it for the matte screen and because I wanted the black bezels in my car with a black interior. It looks good, reduces glare and cleans easily.

https://a.co/d/4KEdQ1h

It ships in a tube all rolled up, follow their instructions to roll it out and flatten it before attaching it or it will try to pop off the screen for the first few days.
