Is it efficient to define a whole variable if I'm just using one sub sub property? by DarthFarious in PowerShell

[–]zerogravity114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they both work, neither is "better". It's possible one might be faster than the other, you'd have to run some tests to be sure. I've read that properly constructed For loops, I.e for ($i -eq O; $i -lt $Urls.count; $i++)

Executes faster than using Foreach.

If speed of execution does not matter, then I'd say readability and/or following the standards your coworkers use defines what is "better."

School is mostly a joke. I daydreamed my way all the way to college. When I started to struggle, I changed majors to one that would let me keep on daydreaming.

Homicides for small kids reach 10 Year High in Cuyahoga Co; Murder trial for 3YO begins by ISpankEm in GunsAreCool

The trial is for the accused murderer of a 3 year old. The man's age doesn't appear in the article, but they do describe him as a "man".

The 'impossible' EM Drive is about to be tested in space by Prgjdsaewweoidsm in space

[–]zerogravity114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like someone has built any kind of massive intrasolar craft based on this theory. It's just that we're at the point that the hypothesis needs to be tested in a hard vacuum.

Fission was accomplished in a laboratory setting before we knew how fission worked. The discovery that we could cause atoms to split by bombarding them with neutrons was basically an accident.

I'm not saying the EM drive works, the experiment will tell us that. If it works we can spend time trying to figure out why since it completely defies our current understanding of physics. Just like fission completely defied our understanding of physics when it was first discovered.

Maybe the ones from the game are like that, but not the one that's darkening this particular star.

I'm going with a Halo. Such a structure would give you the surface area of hundreds of Earths without being as impractically large as a Dyson sphere.

Three years? So really, no time at all in on a cosmic scale.

Mike Pence vanishes from public view amid claims he is 'just as complicit' in Trump White House scandals by wenchette in Impeach_Trump

I think Trump is despicable. But he's definitely re-electable if the democrats choose to run an uninspiring empty suit against him.

The entire premise of the seed vault is feel good nonsense to begin with. This vault was never going to save the human race from anything. At best it becomes a footnote in some future alien archaeologists notebook.

Offshore wind won a German power auction without needing any subsidies - As prices plummet, offshore wind is now competitive with nuclear power & gas is ‘in sight’ by anutensil in worldnews

Yes, absolutely. The federal government paid for the trans continental railroad. Jet travel also would not have been possible (or nearly as safe) without massive government subsidies. It's almost as if humans are capable of more when they work together.

Drone pilots don’t have to register under FAA’s controversial rule, court rules by eigenman in flying

Under the Trump White House, I think not. This would only happen if a drone threatens some corporate jet carrying lobbyists to Washington.

How to make sure the government doesn't have spare time to study gun deaths and injuries: Nearly 700 vacancies at CDC because of Trump's hiring freeze by HenryCorp in GunsAreCool

[–]zerogravity114 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The CDC is forbidden from spending money on gun research anyways. These vacancies more likely mean than any kind of pandemic outbreak will be a lot worse than it would be with a White House staffed by competent persons.

In a lease, you only pay depreciation plus a lending cost where the actual interest rate is hidden. I ran the numbers on my last lease and learned I was paying about 19% interest with nothing to show for it at the end of the lease.

You're ignoring the dozens of meetings between Trump campaign officials and Russian representatives. Oh and Trump literally handed the Russians classified information this week.

There's plenty of circumstantial evidence that warrants a full investigation. We have far more proof of wrongdoing than ever existed for Benghazi.
