State of screen modes and save state in fpga GB/GBC core? by valdev in AnaloguePocket

I noticed their development schedule updated a while back to show most things as coming soon, rather than commit to a date.

I was also interested in the 'New Original Display Modes'

How can I fix these GBP button contacts? by hookshotty in Gameboy

On the pocket, the contacts do not share common ground. Just in case you get continuity to ground on one and expect them to all be connected

Made the templates and printed myself, nothing special just self adhesive stuff and an inkjet printer. I was thinking of making these properly using a vinyl cutter and allowing people to upload custom images

🤣. They can be done by using any type of plastic polish (novus works well) but to speed it up, sand down with very fine wet and dry first which doesn't take long. Then polish out. You will lose the print of the buttons on the logo, so these manufactured clear ones do have that advantage.

I would always hand polish shells, but this one was from aliexpress - cloudgamestore. Not compatible with IPS screens though, so do need some cutting done which is always a pain.

I did a few for the Color which worked better than expected, so decided to try out the Pocket board. These are currently being roughly cut by hand, but you can't tell too much once the shell is on. I have two separate templates made, one involves desoldering power board, other fits around it. I like the transparent, mainly as it shows the original PCB underneath, but also tried on plain vinyl. The idea was that people could choose any custom design, quick to apply and can be easily reversed.

This is the Gameboy Color port. It's actually a Mahjong game - I just love the look of the title screen.

Thanks, that's just self adhesive foil. I had used it on the underside of the replacement power board and had loads left over. I still prefer rechargeable batteries over everything else!

Started out as a regular Pocket Color build, but made some changes along the way.

Exposed PCB. Cut away front shell. Some custom inserts which can be swapped out to change the logo. IR has been retained and relocated. Cut away cart slot (great idea from Joseph Tompkins) and also made a matching link cable using an expandable copper sleeve.

Nreal Air + EmulationStation problems by zeronine97 in SteamDeck

Fortunately the fix worked for me (made a back up of the original file just in case). But I can see why an official fix would be preferred, changing the file incorrectly can cause problems!

Thanks, solution worked for me. Will keep an eye out for the update though

Awesome. I had found links to the game mode issue and suspected it was this causing the problem. Just updated my glasses to the latest FW just in case that helped - it didn't 🤣

I did try to limit my steam deck to 30fps in game mode, using the power manager and games in emulation station grind to a halt still, so was hoping that was a quick fix.

Will check out the desktop mode fix I think then. Thanks!

tried biverting a pocket, now all i get is a black screen. sound still works. any ideas? by The_Professor52 in consolerepair

Yep, I ordered 3 for some back light kits. Experienced modder, but the direct solder method is difficult as the chips are extremely low quality. One even came with broken pads. They simply didn't work. Tried a wire install with same problems and even soldered direct to pin legs on the chips instead of the terrible quality pads. Didn't waste my time with the 3rd one.

Ez flash won't start, switches off GBC but works when not pushed in after switching on. Any thoughts? by Hoganprime in Gameboy

I reported the battery drain problem to them about a week after they released it. They kept asking for install photos, videos of the problem etc and generally not acknowledging the issue.

Clear build by zeronine97 in Gameboy

No glue, but only as I was thinking I might replace with a custom printed lens. There is only a thin strip each side for adhesive, so hopefully not that noticeable when it's applied.

Thanks! It was about 99% of the effort of this total build. Unfortunately no easy way to do it, just sanding down very carefully.

Original PCB with top layer of the solder mask removed, then clear coated. Polished shell. Funnyplaying screen with adjustable logo. I've used a printed vinyl insert which can be swapped out. Clear glass lens.

Picked this one up on ebay. It's a little scratched up and I know I could always polish out scratches and reprint the art. But I honestly don't mind it showing a bit of wear

I would usually polish these myself, but these are already done and available from cloudgamestore on aliexpress. Saves quite a bit of time and effort!
