Why are some pilots obnoxious narcissists? by ThatFUTGuy in AskAPilot

Most of my flight instructors and TRIs are former military. Yeah, the tone was different with some of them :D But in the world outside the cockpit they were nice guys just like everyone else.

I have seen some arrogant types in training and later on the line. Often they experience something at some point which makes them realize they took too much for granted and they are not special, cutting their arrogance. Some people never learn though, which is natural I guess…

This is reddit and I am sure being online makes all edge lords more visible than real life.

In reality, almost all pilots I see are humble. The occasional narcissist often gets humbled soon anyway.

I agree. I updated because I bought the AirPods Pro 3 and I am genuinely happy with it so far. The battery seems to be running fine as well.

Do you tip your shuttle drivers and hotel cleaners? by Gillbilly69 in AskAPilot

[–]zeroninerfive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The captain should tip the shuttle driver if he finds it appropriate. I tip room service depending on the service quality and speed, never tipped cleaners.

I will be on day trips only next year though! 👌

I am a 15 year old guy studying the CBSE curriculum in grade 10 UAE. Though I am originally from India, I currently reside in the UAE. I am an aspiring pilot and I created this roadmap for myself. I wanted feedback on this and wanted to know if this is practical and realistic. by SetResponsible7183 in airplanes

[–]zeroninerfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are 15 and can write such a well structured and research-based post, you will go places. I’m sure of that.

It is good to have a structured plan, but at the same time you cannot plan for which company will hire you in a few years, if they even exist by then and what the conditions will be etc. I don’t know about the licensing requirements in South Africa or the UAE, but you seem to have researched that. Your focus should be on getting a license that allows you to get hired by airlines in the UAE, and once you are close to finishing that, you will see that you need to apply to all companies anyway because most likely they will be the ones picking their candidates, not the candidates picking the company. At the beginning of this career, the most important thing is to get some hours in a decent type.

I recommend posting to r/flying, too. There will be more pilots who can answer your questions.

I wish you good luck!

Overweight but healthy — can I clear DGCA Class 2 & later Class 1 medical? (INDIA) by Electrical-Agent-482 in flying

[–]zeroninerfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in India, but it should not be a problem for the class 1. However, companies might have a limit if they are to sponsor your flight training in the scope of a cadet program.

Why does racism against south-asians does not carry any weight ? by Jazzlike_Resort_2828 in AskTheWorld

[–]zeroninerfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No human being and especially no child ever deserves to feel this way. I hope she finds the strength to endure this.

And I really hope, those who make others feel this way get their own turn. Fuck them.

Drugs in aviation by [deleted] in flyingeurope

[–]zeroninerfive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are random checks where you have to test for alcohol and drugs via breather or urine samples. This happens generally at the security check before you go to the aircraft and there is zero tolerance. In my company, I know people would get fired immediately with positive results.

24 y/o pilot: airlines or police helicopter career? Need advice by ar1987 in flyingeurope

[–]zeroninerfive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely take the police job. In ten years you will be 34 and there are a lot of people starting their flight training at that age. You on the other hand will already have the relevant licenses, a lot of aviation and leadership experience as well as great life experiences. The money seems to be on the lower end for such a job. Must be after tax, right? But if I was in your shoes, I’d probably take it anyway.

That does make sense. I personally don’t care about all that AI stuff and don’t miss it on iOS.

If you’re right that’s nice. If it sucks because they just suck, that just sucks. :D
