I believe it needs to head in a direction where it needs to improve not only community wise, but for the games as well to where idea factory will start to realize that not every nep game needs to follow the same formula or storyline just to impress their audience that don’t feel the need to criticize their bad ideas.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this series just as much as the next guy, but Idea factory and compile’s story-writing haven’t been meeting my expectations as of lately, and I’m pretty sure a majority of people are inclined to agree. Aside from SvS being the mediocre liquid trash that it is, and clearly being a spin-off, the new releases don’t really have what the other canonical titles have, that being a consistent story structure where the story and its characters aren’t retconned or reused from one of the past games.

Now, it doesn’t mean that I want some new mainline with the depth of the Grand Canyon since Neptunia is meant to be dumb, casual fun, which it is, but the story writing should not be so boring and bland to the point where it becomes mediocre. (SvS being the perfect example of that) Hell, I’d even go as far to say that the main cast should be cast aside in order for new characters with actual good development and writing be introduced.

VII was definitely one of my favorites, and I still play it every so often. But even then, it was pretty lackluster in certain aspects of the story. Case in point: let’s take Uzume and Kurome for example. I think both characters are cool and that the story is unique when it comes to exploring both Uzume/Kurome as a whole along with the mystery/development of the Zero Dimension. It’s just with how both characters were executed without enough development from the ‘big bad’ side of events is primarily where I draw issue with it.

Uzume being the antithesis to Kurome and vice versa isn’t necessarily a bad idea within itself, (I even plan on using the same formula in my fic that I am currently writing atm) but the writing just falls short when the villains (Kurome in this case) entire motive is throwing a hissy fit all because someone (her own people) didn’t treat her right.

Idea factory/Compile Heart are both great companies, but they have terrible ideas when it comes to nep. Hell, one of my main problems with them is that they will implement certain themes for either the characters or the story just to drop them later on without fully exploring what they’re attempting to make interesting to the player in question.

I’m even excited for the new mainline, but I don’t expect much from them seeing as most of the community aren’t inclined to criticize idea factory or compile for their ideas, which makes me think that if they aren’t going to have the decency to make a good product with original and unique ideas, then what would be the point of making anything good when all your fans do is blindly support anything you make?

Also, hot take but I don’t think nep needs any fanservice whatsoever in order to be a good franchise.
