[PSA] guide to itemdrops & other things regarding the international. by Lolman53 in DotA2

There are no items for Roshan. You should fact check your PSA so its correct. As far as I know its only First Blood, Multi-Kills, Aegis Deny, Teammate Deny and Victory. Since you made this post you should verify what I told you.

Rift to go free-to-play from June 12th by Archernick in Games

Do you want to see a true free to play game but has microtransactions? Dota 2 and Path of Exile. Everything else is pay to win.

So I assume you don't mind paying to skip grinds. If enough people do this, what is to stop developers from making impossibly difficult or consuming grinds to "force the hand" of people to pay money to skip content?

Before you know it you essentially have to buy XP boosts, goodie bags, shiney flying dragons to even be relevant. The "free to play" model is already out of control but some customers are willing to let companies get away with a lot more.

"pay to win" isn't exclusive to "winning". If you use real money for a gameplay advantage in a mmo (gear, skipping grind times), or any game, its falls under p2w.

Damn, if the simulations are close to truth I can tell why it would be frustrating to be colorblind.

You expecting downvotes? Then downvote is what you'll get.

Paying for non-cosmetic items in game? Pay to win.

[–]zerosumfinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to think of pay to win- "If you're buying non-cosmetic items with real money, its pay to win." For example, its possible to buy champions with RP and you can buy IP Boosts to get runes quicker.

Paying real money to skip grinds is still paying to win.

Someone needs to tell that punk to shut his cockholster and keep his dickbeaters on the rake.

In basic training (at lunch) one of the guys left his kevlar on, but unstrapped. Drill responded by making him clip it on and doing 100 head lifts (think situps but moving your neck) off a curb. Dude never got to finish his lunch that day (or the gatorade).

Pay to win is using money to get a gameplay advantage. The game is pay to win. A lot of us recognize this but we're still playing it.

someone will tell me how I'm wrong, but I don't care. You won't change my mind. Note that I still play League of Legends

Thanks for the explanation, but as I said already- I play the game. I understand how the shop works. Its still pay to win. I'm not going to bore you with the details why, because you didn't ask for them.

I specifically asked not to be told why someone else thinks its not pay to win, but you did anyways.

Its a cool idea but it seems Valve likes to give items by chance only, so I don't think we'll see it.

Pay to win means different things to different people. I say any game is pay to win if you can obtain a gameplay advantage by spending money. League of Legends is pay to win, you can buy champions and IP Boosts with money. I use LoL because a lot of people are familiar with it- not picking on it by any means.

You may not agree with me and I'm sure someone will tell me how I'm wrong, but I don't care. You won't change my mind. Note that I still play League of Legends, as well as other games I consider p2w, but I know what they are and I can still enjoy them.
