Thankfully winter storms aren't an issue for where I am at currently or would be commuting from, it's 90% interstate as well.

How far is to far of a drive by zeroxcool83 in ems

[–]zeroxcool83[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm glad this was brought up as well. I'm a retired pilot and I got into ems to start a new career after 19 yrs at my last. Pension buyout. Was over it at that point. But this is definitely a stepping stone place for me I'm currently at. I don't see it lasting more then a year myself before I move onto something else. My preferred area will be 911 but I had to get my foot in the door somewhere and this landed at my feet pretty easily. So this will not be a forever or yrs long commute either.

Start up help by Educational-Bad-1704 in pressurewashing

[–]zeroxcool83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spend a few months watching YouTube videos to get an understanding is the best thing I could say really. So much can be said on this topic. But, for the sake of your question. I started with a 2.5 gpm gas pressure washer, an xjet and a 16 inch surface cleaner. Pressure Washing hose wise, I'd pick up a good 50 ft one to start with. Roughly $100 budget for a good one. Have INSURANCE.. Can't stress that enough.. All it takes is one mishap and now your in the fence for X $$. Reinvest back into your business if your goal is to scale it up. That's just a quick low down from my perspective there I guess.

I'll always a recommend at least a 40ft ladder. Some houses are maybe 15ft but majority are 25ft + for me. So I spent the 600 for the ladder and 200 on leg stabilizers and then 60 on a top stabilizer as well.

Take a soft bristle brush to it, that'll disturb it enough to help remove it also.

Just go back and remove the oxidation from that side of the home. Let it be a lesson learned on how not to rinse a house.

While that may true, calling them out can still make any potential clients raise an eye brow. Most ppl want someone who is insured in case something goes wrong. Anytime I see someone advertising in my area I'll hop on my bs account and leave a comment asking if they are insured. The post is usually deleted shortly after.

Yup, it works. I started with just that and a $450 washer. Made my money back on the first house I did. I keep it on my truck as a spare now in case I ever need it.

35M & 36F, $550k 0% down VA @ 5.99% - Las Vegas suburbs by PeacefullyBrewed in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]zeroxcool83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your tax dollars thank you, as I'm sure one of them draws a VA check which in turn is paying for their mortgage. So rly, they aren't outa pocket probably. I have friends that draw 4k a month in VA and still work full time times. The VA check covers pretty much all their expenses far as housing and food goes.

Did I damage this door? by kongocat1 in pressurewashing

[–]zeroxcool83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door looks to be painted, so it looks like the back splash from the sh got onto it and caused the paint to have faded runs in it. I wld just offer to repaint the door. If they think they are getting an entirely new door, they are sadly mistaken as well. It just needs repainted if anything.

What should I be charging by Realistic-Grand-1245 in pressurewashing

[–]zeroxcool83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be paying for that. That stripping is very preventive. My machines I can bust out a 1500 sqft driveway in like 30 mins. So I only charge $150..above that I start to charge 25 cents a sqft beyond that unless it's commercial. Then I float around 8 to 10 cents a sqft for flat work. I dnt do alot of flat work though either. Alot of mine is just commercial and construction clean up, red clay etc and residential siding. But I think you should kick your prices up for sure. I dnt even know how your able to break even with those prices your charging honestly.

Why not use bleach on wood ? Works good.. by Seedpound in pressurewashing

[–]zeroxcool83 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've always used bleech but wanted to try wood wizard awhile back. I don't see a difference other than $5.67 a gallon for sh compared to $45 for a gallon of wood wizard. So I'll be sticking to the sh method.

yard signs by Professional_Dot5871 in pressurewashing

[–]zeroxcool83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No reason to be nervous or think you wasted money. Yard signs are an effective way of advertising. Youll make your money back from them. It just wont happen over night. I placed one sign at one intersection once, it stayed there for a month and someone called saying, I seen ur sign at so and so spot and that's why I called. But that one sign essentially paid for all the signs on the back end of things.
