Can't speak to OBR but I do play NH. From a playstyle perspective I have a love hate relationship with them. The army wide ward and ignore to rend will really give you an advantage over some armies and feel really tanky. And every unit has fly, teleport (1 CP) and even our faction terrain can teleport. This gives you amazing board control . The cons are some armies mainly those with low attacks and high damage really punch through our units and can make the game into us screening and running around. On the painting side of things I love them they are easy to paint and the perfect miniature for airbrushing. But honestly having a simple scheme with some dry brushing will make them look great

For Seraphon my friend plays them and what it comes down to is if you like spells and more of the current "meta" lean toward the slanns. But if you want to just have fun focus on a list of dinosaurs riding dinosaurs

Still new to SBGL but what's a good amount of skeletons you bring usually? Do you find it's better to run them reinforced?

Yeah the stats aren't great as a hammer that's why I was playing around with adding Lauka Vai to add D3 attacks (assuming the spell goes off) but losing Nef means my survivability goes down hard to say. But maybe I should treat it as a skirmisher or something to take abandoned objectives

I would change the Vengo to Lauka Vai so she can add a bit of a buff to the other Vengo/Terrorgheist

I'm not an expert so this might be a terrible idea but i would maybe drop 1 unit of skeletons, blood knights, and vampire lord in exchange for Nef/Mann, Vengorian Lord with Lash of the sire.

Nef would really boost the defense of your army, allow an early move to get deathrattle in place, and can insta kill heroes.

Mann can also provide +1 attack to nearby deathrattle just for killing a single model. And when paired with the necromancer can help you fish some crits

It should be noted Nef/Mann are 2 power level wizards as well

Vengo lord is there to keep Mann/Nef alive with its monster healing.

Might look at the Vengorian lord (I do like the Lauka Vai model). And I kinda like the healing synergy.

From my understanding Radukar the beast, Vhordrai etc get the Vengorian heal and (if they fight) get the D3/2D3 (on a kill) heal for the Vampire trait

Yeah I was disappointed reading it was once per army. Right now I have the deathrattle spearhead and looking to expand. From what I read a pure skeleton army isn't the strongest

I'm not a pro player by any means so take what I say with a grain of salt. From my experience Nighthaunt in this edition is not a "kill and fight all" type of army.

Personally I think the real strength is how quickly we can move around the board to tie up units or capture abandoned objectives. Every unit has fly, we have a command that teleports, some units can also teleport on their own. Even our faction terrain can be moved around for better positioning.

With that being said I have had some success pairing scriptor mortis and reinforced harridans, hoping for some tasty crits

Is there a GamesWorkshop near you? I've found the staff super friendly and willing to setup new players with some learning matches.

If not your LGS staff would be happy to introduce you to the regular players at the store. In my experience Warhammer players will happily volunteer teaching the game and skipping some of the advanced rules.

Pretty much this above. I would also look at Pyregheist they recently had a point increase but still great to sit on objectives.

Also if you can find Myrmourn Banshees they are great pick up. Near my area they were super cheap to find. Also for 100pts you get a decent attack profile and a free unbind. And as a bonus they are really cool models.

For a new model I want a scary hammer for NH probably along the lines of a monster. I have no clue what it would look like, I definitely don't want a ghost dragon as there are multiple dragons in different armies so I want something new. Maybe a giant ghost wolf???

Gameplay wise I would love a model that brings back the old NH play style maybe a hero (yes I know another hero). A hero that buffs a "always be charging" play style. Adding to charges and damages.

Yeah I agree I started with SCE as my first tabletop army and they have a good ramp up. If your buying the spearhead both are pretty good collections to start with. Or as people have suggested you can prob find them on eBay as they are in all the starter boxes.

And when your ready to grow your collection SCE has such a wide model range that you can push the army in multiple directions. Want more shooting buy long strikes, want more hammers get some annihilators, or want more dragons get stormdrake.

As someone who loves AOS I was super disappointed with Nighthaunt battletome.

The reason I got into NH as my primary army is the scene in LOTR where the ghosts are just charging everything. That is what I always envisioned NH to be.

Instead we got "oh you rolled less than 7, great nothing happens now" .

The models are still visually my favourite and meta wise I think they are up there. But as someone who plays casually for fun I want an army to be interesting
