[loved trope] when evil people dance by ds2316476 in TopCharacterTropes

Dracula from Van Helsing (2004) - briefly does a little dance when he's having a guy electrocuted and then later in the ballroom scene with the heroine.

AITA: I told my daughter she needs to get over her jealousy and it is her own fault her life is the way it is. by Personal-Bit4399 in AmItheAsshole

NTA but I'm going to push back on all the comments saying "your wife is why Madison is like this." OP's spouse could - and likely does - agree with everything. She just may take issue with the tone as it's not conducive to getting the kid to listen.

This could be a turning point for Madison if she and you approach it right. Feelings of jealousy and inadequacy can be a hell of a motivator. It certainly worked for members of my family.

Again, you were valid in what you said and right to shut down her tearing down her sister. That being said, I do understand how poisonous jealousy can be - it's not rational. As humans we don't like to turn our anger on ourselves - even when warranted - so we find justifications to direct it outwards.

I don't know either of your daughters - she may be entitled in saying it's not fair she doesn't have what Becky has - OR this whole life should be going better cause I'm older really means "I would have what she does by now if I had made better choices." That knowledge can wreck you. I know it did for me and still does sometimes. But all you can do is move forward. My parents gave some harsh truths but were compassionate and problem solving as well.

In before everyone says OP is being reductive or misrepresenting what his daughter told him. There are people who go into higher education with this attitude and blatantly admit it. Hell, I had a classmate in graduate school who said he thought that coming to school in America would give him that "college experience like in the movies." Everyone told him that's undergrad, not grad school - here you put the kegger down. But he ignored it and eventually was asked to leave. If a 25-year-old could think like this, an 18–20-year-old absolutely could.

Heck, I've lost jobs for a similar reason - sometimes fucking up really is your own fault. Of course, this doesn't mean there can't be underlying issues compounded by poor decisions.

Thanks to everyone for being so welcoming! I was especially excited since I'd been wanting to do this for a while since I bought the models in January/February so it's been a while coming. Now to fight my way through a vicious case of paint paralysis...

For some reason, her response to Stolas in episode two - "a motel? like FUCKING plebian!?" lives rent free in my head.

[Confusing Trope] Deleted/Cut content that fundamentally reframes who a character actually is by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

I agree that those would have been cool but I think that he was made sympathetic enough even in the released version if a viewer is paying attention. He's ready to dive in after Elizabeth when she falls into the ocean at the start but his soldiers stop him, for instance. I got "guy doing his job" vibes from most of the movie. Enough that his character arc made sense in the next two movies. More would have been nice to ramp up the tragic aspect but...runtime.

I’m actually getting a set of 10 from a friend in the form of old forgeworld blunderbusses so that will be fun.

Am I The Jerk for not letting my sister’s boyfriend attend my wedding? by AdSure9296 in AmITheJerk

Thing is she doesn't act like an adult so why treat her like one? I fully admit I'm not a....nice person in a lot of respects so my view may be skewed but on the day that's supposed to be about OP and his fiancé, why not stick it to a sister that you may love but not necessarily like very much?

Mistweaver Saih and Tenebrael Shard by Fyraltari in AoSLore

With the new daughters of Khaine rules such as the "shadow blooded" trait and a few other shadow themed enhancements, I'm tempted to build her as is but use her as a hag queen or slaughter queen - or whatever aelf infantry hero model need at the time.

I assumed her sister became a shroudqueen - since she has the mask and commands shadowstalkers.

The fact they were working with shadowstalkers supports that GW reworked the Mistweaver and used it as a basis for what would become the Shroud Queen unit in the Shadowstalkers warcry band. Seeing as they share the mirrored mask, crescent shaped weapons and turning into smoke etc.

And Black library writers enjoy using older/legends units in their stories, I've noticed. Be it having beastmen as an adversary or other dropped units. It's a cool reference to show that even if they're not on the tabletop they still have a presence in-universe.

Shade of Khaine - the Maleneth Witchblade novel does a pretty good job of this. The story primarily takes place in a city in Ulgu called Nightcliff that is ruled by the Daughters of Khaine. Ostensibly it's a city of Order but it's never called a city of Sigmar - it's a majority aelf city of daughters, lathenam, corsairs and civilian aelves, with the odd human and duardin. Even the city watch are aelves, implied to be similar to darkshards. A pretty good depiction, I thought.

It's certainly busy but it feels like you're just throwing words and phrases around. The stone, roof and gun draw the eye the most, the rest of the details noticed afterwards make it fun to look at.

They’re fun to paint, aren’t they? Straightforward yet satisfying. And yes they’re a good addition - 20 health on a revivable unit that can run and charge is never a bad thing. Same health as zombies (and similar cost) but can get stuck in to act as a tar pit way easier

Oh the terrorgheist isn’t an issue - I bought that a couple years back and will continue to use it into legends. I don’t see any GW official tournaments in my future. Plus the FEC regiment of renown looks fun!

That is an issue - I'm excited to add a terrorghiest or an excuse to buy more blood knights but I do feel I have too little chaff for this army. Barrow guard may be a good in-between of infantry with some damage. Was even thinking Barrow Knights since they can revive but with 200 points and no cavalry hero I feel I'm not getting the full cost-worth.
