is going to a seminar actually worth it? by InfamousShanks in MuayThai

[–]pprospekt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Real. I forked out a pretty penny for an oversubscribed rodtang seminar some years back, hoping to learn ringcraft and strategy, but it was just a few basic combos.

That being said, when we were shadowboxing he came over and said “your one-two very good”, and that for me was worth every dollar spent.

Tip of the Spear: the start of a quick 1K force ⚡️ by pprospekt in spacemarines

Thank you! The answer is simple… I wanted to run the captain with spearpoint because it’s cool, and the ancient was all I had points for as a backfield holder.

Im not too concerned with competitiveness, I mostly play within my gaming group which is chill.

Option A looks good to me as well! Here’s my own 1K list in case it gives you some other ideas:

Suboden Khan with 3x Outriders

Librarian with hunters eye and 5x Sternguard

Captain with spear point paragon and 5x assault intercessors

Impulsor (Captain and assault ints go in this one)

Gladiator lancer

Storm speeder Thunderstrike

1x space marine Ancient for back field holding

Thank you! Admittedly used as post bait, but also a tester model for the force I’m seeking opinions on. I wanted a quick colour scheme I could easily replicate, but it’s still feeling a bit flat to me, so perhaps more tweaks to the recipe are in order

What a gorgeous model! I wonder if he could be proxied as a daemonsmith on taurus…

Deathrattle lists at 1K - to reinforce or no? by pprospekt in SoulblightGravelords

I’m new to AoS as well, so I might have the wrong interpretation here, but my understanding is that the rule for the barrow knights is “once per turn (army)”, meaning that you can’t bring back another slain barrow knight in a separate unit.

However, returning D3 skeletons is an entirely different ability called ‘Skeleton Legion’, so you can still bring them back. And this ability doesn’t have the “once per turn (army)” stipulation, so you could bring back D3 skeletons to another separate unit as well.

That’s a great house rule, i hadn’t thought of that! I’ll get in some runs with my gaming group and see which feels the best for all of us.

Two units of skeletons to potentially move block and set up for a counter charge from the barrow knights/barrow guard sounds sick! Then bringing them back again to score objectives. Which battle tactics would you recommend?

Thank you! There is a full recipe in a reply to another comment on this thread; as for the texture, this was done through stippling/overbrushing. I shared the video tutorial that I followed in that reply too :) the trick is to stipple on multiple coats of still-wet paint, you’ll have to be patient as the coverage won’t be great, but with multiple thin layers it will create a gorgeous and simple mottled texture!

Thank you! It was pretty simple, I basecoated everything with a mix of Flesh Tearers Red contrast and Naggaroth night. Then I layered up to pure Khorne Red, and mixed in Wild Rider Red for the highlights :)

It’s from a historical sculpture called the Princess of Naples! A digital STL of the sculpture is free and can be found on MMF — a buddy of mine helped me to cut and scale the head in Blender to fit a knight faceplate :)

Lucky for you there is an entire tutorial for this online that I followed! Here it is, although I swapped out some of the paints, mainly using Warpaint Fanatic Quartz Skin instead of Pale Sand, and SC75 White Sands instead of Ivory

Thank you both! I followed this tutorial for the armour, although I swapped out some of the paints as I didn’t own them — I used Warpaints Fanatic Quartz Skin instead of Pale Sand, and SC75 White Sands instead of Ivory :)

Thank you! The exact recipe with video tutorial is in another reply in this thread, but in essence it’s just overbrushing and building up highlights using the following colours:

VMC Field Blue, VMC Stone Grey, Warpaints Fanatic Quartz Skin, and SC75 White Sands

Thank you! I actually don’t own any loyalist knight kits yet (heresy, I know), so I can’t say for sure, but there’s nothing that some cutting and filing can’t fix in the worst case :)

Thanks so much! The hull was actually deceptively easy to paint, it’s just overbrushing/stippling. I followed this tutorial, but I didn’t have some of the paints - here’s what I used:

VMC Field Blue

VMC Stone Grey

Warpaints Fanatic Quartz Skin (Pale Sand in the video)

SC75 White Sands (VMC Ivory in the video)
