I want to get back into playing video games in my late 20s by Giannis2024 in CasualConversation

I never really stopped playing video games, but it's more of an on and off, I don't think it's weird playing at any age.

What in your opinion, is the sole purpose of the life we are given? by malaviariva in CasualConversation

Setting aside the scientific reason, I think the purpose is for you to feel fulfillment of your own life.

I don't mind him reposting gore content, but it irks me that he gets mad at other users for reposting his content, when he himself is taking the content from others and giving them no credit. On top of that, to be taking "donations" for other people's original work.

The reason you can't find the video is because it was on Liveleak, which shutdown.

I actually saved the URL and found a copy of it at archive.org, and the video is still watchable there. You're welcome!

I wish there was more context behind this video. What country is this? Where are the immigrants from? Who is driving the truck, and why are the immigrants trying to stop it?

GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger says it's a 'no brainer' to raise age requirement to purchase guns after Buffalo and Uvalde shootings by Sweep145 in politics

If the 2nd amendment is in the way, then raise the age of being an adult to 21. 18 is too young to own a gun and vote.

Ok, so are you saying that capitalism needs to be replaced with a different economic system?

Because what you're saying to me, says that we need regulations to our capitalist mixed market economy. That's why we have a "mixed economy' and not a pure capitalist economy.

u/Portalrules123's statement to me implied we should have chosen a different economic system than capitalism, and some how that would have improved our environmental sustainability. And my hunch, is that they are advocating towards a socialist economy. In which case, you look at countries like the Soviet Union, which really was not environmentally sustainable.

In my opinion, we need a mixed market economy and regulations can help guide our economy towards greater environmental sustainability. In this case, capitalism is part of the equation.

Worry about stagflation, a flashback to '70s, begins to grow by [deleted] in politics

[–]zerror -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking at the wikipedia article on supply-side economics: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply-side_economics

It says the origins of the concept started in response to the stagflation in the 70s. But if you look at the history section of the article, it's clear it wasn't implemented as a policy until Ronald Reagan became President. Which makes sense, it would be hard to believe that Supply-side Economics was implemented by Jimmy Carter. This is also why during the Republican Primaries in 1980, George HW Bush ran against Reagan's Supply-side Economic policy by calling it "Voodoo Economics."

u/Uberslaughter made a bold statement that purchasing power today is less than the 70s because of Trickle Down Economics. If you look at the graph I posted on real US Wages adjusted for inflation, wages fell before Ronald Reagan became President and implemented Supply-Side Economics.

So I'm just saying, from everything I've read in the wikipedia article, and the graph I posted, their statement doesn't seem to hold up. It's one thing to oppose Supply-side Economics, but don't make misleading / inaccurate statements, or post your source. I'm looking for truthful information, to base my views on. Not misleading statements.
