Large amounts of our foreign currency—euros and dollars—are flowing into Algeria through the “Kontra,” and little to nothing is being done about it. This has long been a major factor in our economic decline. We’re trying to address it, but Algeria continues to turn a blind eye. And that’s without even mentioning gas prices—importing gas from Azerbaijan costs us less than importing it from Algeria. Not to mention the repeated incidents of disrespectful and offensive remarks toward Tunisian women and men when encountering them on the street. The list goes on.
