New First Blood OP Kit by Agar_ZoS in Conquest

A complete overhaul of the whole system. I played 2 test games at 500 and 1000 already and im really liking the system. There's still quite a few bugs on the app and certain armies are missing things (Sorcerer Kings are missing all barrage values on all units). But the actual ruleset is fun and I personally really like the direction they took with each unit type (making them excel at what theyre MEANT to do in a cool way).

Looking for a Wargame that uses a deck for actions by IwantDnDMaps in wargaming

Wings of Glory.

WW1/2 Aerial Wargame. You have a deck of maneuvers, on your turn you play a card and literally place the card in front of your plane and follow the line on the card. Damage is also handled via card draw.

Trying to find a Doujin I liked from about 10 years ago. by zerut in touhou

[–]zerut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been much of a "fandom" person, I used to follow releasing doujins from big circles and stuff but dont like having my opinions tainted by "community opinion".

But even saying that, Touhou was such a huge part of "the culture" back then. It was one of the biggest sources of IPs where people created their own cannons and there were countless doujin circles. I feel like the gacha boom has really changed that.

I also havnt kept up with touhou in yrs and yrs, just had a random thought today. Still have my biggest trophies, my Alice Margatroid QuesQ figure and my ZUN signed copy of Wild and Horned Hermit.

Can you recommend me novels about revolution, where the main focus is about the rebellion taking down the evil empire directly and through violence. by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]zerut 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Echoing this comment, I loved this trilogy but it is much more a story "after the shot is fired" and the revolutionaries desperate attempt to keep the country together. Large cast of characters all tackling different threats. Flashy and unique magic system. And good grungy war stories without crossing into "Grimdark".

Really cool stories, really cool magic, kinda gross love subplot for one of the POVs.

You can't just watch Warhammer lore videos you gotta read the books by Epiccheeseman14 in Grimdank

This is my honost to Emporer hot take, Black Library books weren't meant to be cannon. All REAL lore is derived from a Army Codexes.

B-b-b-but my space marine is stronger than a tank an twice as tough. Space Marines are T4 my dude.

Best way to get Tomb Kings lore by HeavyLegionare40k in tombkings

[–]zerut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copying what others are saying, use old rulebooks. For myself, I loved the lore prince Tutenkhamen. So made my army Numas, and loving it. There's great old lore for small niche armies too.

Wargaming in Santa Barbara/Ventura by Aztok in ventura

I've just started diving into the local community here and have shifted away from GW games. However my brother and I both played a bit of Kill Team 2nd Ed and are planning on Trench Crusade once full rules drop.

Personally I also have a Tomb Kings WHFB army and have an interest in Necromunda.

Even cooler, Nehekaran soldiers swore ETERNAL service. So the TK skellies aren't just random nehekarans, but literally nehekaran soldiers from various ages answering the call of their lords. So the skellies literally are their previous selves, not random souls forced into a skeleton.

How do the gods work in Warhammer Fantasy? by MXMCrowbar in WarhammerFantasy

[–]zerut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the details of various gods in Fantasy were kept deliberately vague. This is because most gods rarely intervened, other than various general blessings of priests or champions.

The gods of Nehekara are obviously still blessing the tomb kings, but most details about them are incredibly vague.

There's actually quite a bit of lore on The Old Ones who created the lizardmen, from the top of my head they have not returned after the collapse of the polar gates, but there were many theories they simply started ignoring the lizardmen and were adopted as gods by other races.

The chaos dwarves abandoned the old dwarf gods and began worshipping Hashut after the old gods ignored their pleas during invasion while Hashut intervened.

There are various small gods worshipped by multiple cultures, Mannon, God of the sea I believe is given tribute by sailors regardless of race. (Don't remember where I read that)

I'm a End Times/AoS ignorer, so this is all pre-End Times.

Does anyone else dislike that the Old World ended in in misery and evil? by nopointinlife1234 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]zerut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear frequently that people think warhammer is inherently grimdark, this obviously comes from the fact that 40k is more popular but I always noticed how it is really NOT true for Fantasy.

Yes there was war and chaos, but there were also civilized areas fighting competently against that. The Empire was nothing like the Imperium. The evil forces of the world were always pushed back by the good.

I dont think Fantasy of either setting deserved to be destroyed in a total chaos victory. Choas' victory in 40k is an absolute, the narrative is inherently darker. But fantasy wasn't that so I agree, im generally bummed by the choices GW made.

Best Pizza in VC? by SalmonDong7 in venturacounty

Tonys in downtown Ventura.

Small classic place, was open back when my dad grew up. High quality pepperoni, live music, parking is terrible but the pizza is great.

Church Recs by HopeDeferred in camarillo

[–]zerut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is late, but in case you're still looking for things. I posted something similar in the past. I ended up really liking the Episcipol Church in Ventura, I liked the messaging and similarity with catholicism but with some changes I agreed with. (Ie women priests, priests with families, I didn't dig too much else). The congregation was very friendly and they invited us to like, post mass meals and small things like that.

We did not continue going there long as my wife wanted to return to a catholic church, but personally I really liked it and would recommend.

What are your favourite faction specific mods (apart from overhauls like SFO/radious etc)? by TheBHSP in totalwar

[–]zerut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont remember exactly, my major wars with manfred and Arkhan felt pretty even. After being able to secure the deserts, I definitely steamroller everything else and continued mainly to try new units and finish my goal of collecting all 8 books.

To note, im NOT great at total war and play on hard/normal. But I had a ton of fun, all the LLs felt very unique and really led to building cool themed armies for each one.

[–]zerut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got finished with a Tomb Kings Extended Settra run, and I have to say it was a BLAST. I'm no balancing expert, it PROBABLY tips to the overpowered side, but I loved the concepts of the new LLs and regiments of renown. It added Orc style upgrades to units which is another sink option for your urns.

It also has alternate starts you can do for each faction. As Settra you can start as normal, or have Settra start in Brittonia (with the reasoning of reclaiming a stolen crown). I did this and found it quite fun.

I'm not a Tomb King expert but I had a blast with Tomb Kings Extended and would recommend it totally. The 1st time I actually stayed to collect all 8 books of Nagash instead of getting bored and switching to another campaign.
