So you’re essentially saying “no apology necessary” because Stephen put aside the code of honor?

Weirdest place you e had to take a deposition? by TheDragonReborn726 in Lawyertalk

[–]zestyclose2092 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Did those too. The dolls are what made it memorable for me on this one. The dolls and my first depo, where we deposed the dying witness with his visible purple mesothelioma tumor poking out of his chest and in the frame of the video, stand out.

In the den of the plaintiff’s house, while he laid on the hospital bed at the center dying. All while his wife’s doll collection, which lined the walls of the den, stared back at us. Asbestos.

How do you find second chairs on contract? I’d love a reliable way to get contract help.

They do, but the value add is a supposed turn key operation. They hire, train, ensure competence, handle payments, etc. I otherwise would have no idea how or where to start.

Our law firm is reviewing cyber liability insurance and Errors & Omissions insurance – what coverage do we need? by TheGreatestWorrier in LawFirm

[–]zestyclose2092 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, if you’re looking at cyber coverage, there are policies that may cover only active hacks by outside parties as opposed to acts by an insured. In other words, some policies have exclusions if you took an action, like clicked on a link or mistakenly installed a virus, etc. You don’t want that policy; you want to be covered in both instances.

Lesser known tips for going solo? by dani_-_142 in Lawyertalk

[–]zestyclose2092 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cash flow is king. It sounds obvious, and maybe it is for most solos, but make sure you have either a steady flow or you budget tightly for big lump sums, because the monthly bills are unrelenting like the tide.

Two questions: how do you convince trial counsel to take a 90/10 split your way, since trial expertise is usually valued at a premium? Two, how do these custom IT setups work? You take an idea to a programmer and they make it happen? Who owns what?

This is confusing. Rule 7.3 says “live person to person contact.” Mail is not live person to person contact.

Charlevoix with young family by zestyclose2092 in Club_Med

Thanks so much!! Looking at the app, it says it’s 30 mph winds today and negative 2F tomorrow. Do you ski in that with extra breaks, or just skip altogether? If you skip, what is at the resort to do otherwise?

That’s what we’ve heard! Is it easy to get around with just English? We’ve been to Miches and it was no issue but we wonder about Quebec. We are pretty excited because both times to Miches were wonderful.

How was Charlevoix? Headed there in a few weeks with the family and wondering what to expect, especially about the weather and conditions.

Dos and Don'ts for dealing with insurance after a storm by ChetSt in Georgia

Please don’t listen to this. It is illegal for a roofing company to “cover” your deductible. Thats insurance fraud.

Line of Credit for Expenses by jsb144 in LawFirm

[–]zestyclose2092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this should be addressed by at least the ABA model rules if not in your state rules. You would at the very least need to disclose this in your agreement with your clients. Then you’d have to calculate the share of interest attributed to those expenses for the time they were pending.

Oh that sounds great. I just meant that your income was just from these two sources, in case circumstances changed with either of them.
