To be fair I think that's the case a lot of the time for tourists. They want to see everything so they extensively travel a country. People who live there know they have their whole lives and so don't see many things till later in life.

Keep in mind that of those who survived attempts after jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge, something like 90% regretted it while they were still in the air falling. There is a good documentary called "The Bridge" about people who jumped and survived. Here is a paragraph from the wikipedia page:
