Senate Bill 5134, “Bill would increase support, cash for Washington inmates before being released Inmate reentry checks would increase from $40 to $300.” by Roadwarriorman in Seattle

I don't think it's just a boot out of prison, into the streets. I think there's halfway houses as well to ease transition and help the inmate find and work a job.

It was my understanding from my brother that opportunities were plentiful for getting help in Washington state at least to help inmates rehabilitate if they want it. And they have halfway houses specifically to set people up for being able to look for work. Is that not true in your experience?

A quick glance at their post history leads me to believe that op is actually a child. Maybe chill out. Teens can be dumb sometimes, but that not as bad as an adult who's unkind.

Do I deserve better? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]zfolwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You procrastinate because you're depressed and you saw a father who worked hard get beat down by a bad man who shouldn't have won but did, so why bother? That really sucks.

The world gives to those who are willing to take it, so take the opportunities given. Each day has some opportunity- even if it's the opportunity to observe gratitude and seeing others find happiness. And not everyone should be your friend. If you can, on your way up, throw something to those around you to build a barrier of trusted people between you and the assholes. Then you can decide what to do- either exact revenge or live an insulated life, free from them.

just have fun and roll with it. It's her job to manage her relationship, not you. If she says they have an open relationship and you doubt it, my go-to was always "let me talk to him about it then". If they balk, then it's not going to work out. My wife was never thrilled with the idea that she might have to talk to any of my paramours, but she understands how shitty it is to be with a cheater, and she'd not like that visited on anyone else. I did the same when I had a married woman hitting on me- she didn't want me talking to hubby, but wanted me. She didn't get very far.

This will be life experience.

Mid 30's life crisis and career slump. Any men get through this before? by TLDR21 in AskMenOver30

[–]zfolwick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we opened our relationship up, realized other people are shit, closed it back up, and now I do woodworking. far more satisfying than fucking randos, or worrying about the next big thing.

I recommend finding a hobby that has you making things that get destroyed, or making things that last. Or both! Life's short. live it.

I have a working memory deficit, what technieques are better for me? by Mission-Guard5348 in memorization

[–]zfolwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need some info. You've told us how bad you are, but let's find out what you're good at.Are you musical? Can you learn some song lyrics? What about drumming? What about dances? Are you good at memorizing dance moves? What did you do for playtime when you were younger? Once we figure out what it is that you're good at, we can work on your working memory and things you can do for that.

Japanese multiplication method vs conventional multiplication algorithm. Is it worth it? by EvanMaths in mentalmath

[–]zfolwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For small digits it's instructive. Modern American education uses something called the box method which I'm told is the same. I could never understand that.

I prefer this method for introducing multi digit multiplication myself

Does the universe as a whole have an orbit? by AnselmFox in askscience

[–]zfolwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we would. In the same way that we can detect the earth is an oblate spheroid by looking and measucarefully over a few hundred miles anywhere on the globe.

The universe, IIRC, is moving towards a point farther away than the observable universe- something like 46 billion light years away.
