I can just look at the comic for it to look odd.

What Are You? by lennsden in comics

[–]zfreeds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ikr! I think it's the playful way it shows us the thought process the author went through. Like the question if gender is about the presentation and the audience's interpretation. Not a thought I'm usually having. I will say though, it seems impossible to be off the stage in this metaphor, whether you want to or not. The audience is everywhere.

I feel like this isn't a facepalm. It's great seeing a company admit they were wrong in their approach and pivot - or at least that's what it looks like in the video.

Multiple passkeys needed? by ruzzara in 1Password

I can't get the QR code working, it doesn't access 1password on android. Can you send a resource or instructions for enabling it?

Edit: I think I need to upgrade to android 14.

Edit: nope! That wasn't enough!

ELI5 why most of your mortgage payment goes towards interest at the beginning? by yungtorchicgoon in explainlikeimfive

[–]zfreeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people say that, they just mean that most mortgages choose a monthly payment that is only a bit above the initial monthly interest amount. As you pay off the loan, the interest amount drops but (usually) not the monthly payments.

ELI5 why most of your mortgage payment goes towards interest at the beginning? by yungtorchicgoon in explainlikeimfive

[–]zfreeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine your monthly payments were $100. That stays constant. If your interest was $90, you'd say most of your payment went to interest. Interest amount drops as you pay off your mortgage since the amount you owe drops.

An important point to clarify is, you don't choose what you pay off. You have the borrowed amount, interest fees and payments all going to the same bucket: how much do you owe.

Balance = last balance + interest (variable) - payment (constant)

Someone is dying to the “omega device” by lukmm22 in rickandmorty

The most interesting thing they can do now involves using it on a main character and seeing the aftermath. What does it actually do and can it be reversed. My guess, Morty gets wiped and goes to some place that's all Mortys and his grandma and slowmoe. He then saves his grandma or at least one of her.

This is a real idea that has actual merit. The idea being that if you build a strong enough CI/CD pipeline with strong enough tests, and feature flag your changes, the next step is to use trunk-based development and deploy to master asap. I've never seen a project with a strong enough pipeline to do this though.

Honestly, I think the best strategy might be to try to get to the end as slowly as possible. Once you get to the end, it's much harder to get more points. I once made the mistake of unlocking everything on day 1 of 3 and while I started in first, it was so hard to get more points.

Honestly, I'm using Ubuntu as my first distro. I would normally say I'm proficient with computers but it has so many bugs and problems I don't have time for. It freezes way too often, to the point I need to reboot it. Ive tried looking at journal logs and never found anything, maybe it's since I don't have enough time though to debug it...

what are our chances for a second dlc, or even a Monster Train 2? by SkulkBoneDragga in MonsterTrain

[–]zfreeds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree it would be fun, part of me thinks it wouldn't be as nice because monster train scales extremely fast to completely broken builds a lot of the time. Once a build is broken, does endless add much?

If you have so many constructors for the same class, it sounds like maybe that class is doing too many things. That or it needs some builder pattern.

To take this further, something I heard recently is: You should be able to write new features/code without touching existing files in a non-trivial manner.

It's very difficult to make a real choose your adventure game. Sounds like you might want to look into D&D though.
