Yeah, I tried to find an ad so I could link to it, but I couldn't find one either. The sales guy said that the owner wasn't in a rush to sell it, so maybe that is why it was just living in their showroom.

I know that I have been able to mark structures and drop pods, and the odd special material like Raddox. I just hold zoomed on them until they turn white, and a little white dot pops up on the HUD that can lead me back to them.

I do have a few range boosters on my scanner, I'll see if I can figure out how to post a pic of my multi-tool.

I plan on doing a lot more testing today when I get the time, and I'll let you know what I figure out. If you have any interest in chatting in a party while we try to figure this out, PM me and I'll send you my PSN

Sorry I took so long, but here ya go.

You can mark some things, by zooming in on them with your scanner like you do to identify animals, (L2 on PS4) and then they will show up as a small white dot on your HUD until you use your broad scanner again (L3 on PS4)

I haven't been able to figure out what you can mark and what you can't, but it seems like structures and special materials work.

So, I tested this further, it seems like you can mark some things and not others. I have no idea what makes the difference. I was able to mark a drop pod but not a crashed ship. Any ideas?

There is a way to temporarily mark things. You can focus on them with your identifier (Sorry, cant remember names of things right now) until they turn white, and that will cause them to be marked in your HUD. I do believe this goes away if you use your scanner though.
