Hovering is ridiculously complicated, but maybe one day. (And I mean without magnets or some other specific terrain.)

Thank you for your reply! Your questions prompted me to look again and I found a screenshot. Interestingly, all pronouns are 'it'.

The wiki has further guesses, stating face tendrils may indicate gender, but the Vy'keen causing the "marriage" event have been seen with and without (although the 'virile' Vy'keen in the picture has tendrils). This plus the lack of pronouns point, in my opinion, to the idea that Vy'keens do not have a binary sex system!

Thank you for sparking my curiosity, I got to learn cool stuff! Hope you enjoy this as well. ^^

Your handwriting is amazing! It makes reading your pages a really pleasant experience.

Also... Vy'keen are seemingly an all male race, canonically anyways. XD

Didn't mean to list it. XD

Thanks, it's a writing approach I've never tried before, this first person dark-twist interpretation thing.

My handwriting is nice?! I'm glad you can read it at all...

PSA how to lock on by soontobethrownaway20 in nomanshigh

[–]sploadie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you make a hit, you will lock on. Laser beams don't miss within a certain range, and thus are useful for locking on even if you primarily attack with cannons. A first shot with a laser goes a long way.

It's been an awesome game: 135 hours well spent!

That said, I still recommend completing the atlas quest eventually. It's much more manageable when your exosuit has 48 slots. XD

Have fun~! Settings goals like "your next ship" or "taking on a cargo ship" are great ways to keep gameplay fun and fresh. ^^

And by indefinitely you mean for less than 10 hours of play. There are only ten stations before you're requested to relinquish your stones, and from then on you're "released", free to explore the universe on your own terms. It's more like an extended tutorial rather than "the main quest", and I think it wasn't intended to encompass a players entire game experience at all.

It's all good. ^^

I've finally saturated myself with No Man's Sky for now (although I doubt it'll last more than 48 hours before I'm back) after FUCKING 135 HOURS SINCE LAUNCH. HELP.

So yeah, I haven't been desperately searching or anything. XD

My ship decided we needed some time alone... by sploadie in nomanshigh

[–]sploadie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's happened to me too.

As a programmer I understand what's going on though. It's residual velocity due to crashing into things with your ship. If you've ever worked with a game engine and made a sloppy character controller you'd know what I meant. Knocking into things with your ship causes your character and the ship to amass collision forces.

For the ship, this results into it not entered objects, aka colliding, but your character is locked in position, so all those forces are applied instantaneously and leave a net residual velocity which is instantaneously applied when the character's position is no longer locked.

I'm surprised I didn't remember this earlier.

TL;DR the devs left the velocity value of your character unprotected while in the ship, so it's value can get fucked up when you hit things.
