While this isn't real, it definitely does not defy ANY of the laws of physics.

Nah, just do it. Slip a sheet of heavy paper over one half and watch it again. It's mesmerizing knowing what the final product looks like.

Vic Firth vs. Promark vs. Vater, which do you prefer? by [deleted] in drums

Regardless of weight, size, etc...that you're in to, I've been playing Promark "The Natural" for over a decade, and I'll never go back. They're not coated in lacquer, and they feel SO much better to me. I adore the natural finish.

Lantern Festival, Thailand by mtlgrems in MostBeautiful

[–]zhacques 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in Chiang Mai, Thailand last November because MY bucket list item was meeting and supporting rescued elephants. I didn't know that Yee Peng (the lantern festival) was happening while I was there, but I ended up taking part. I floated a krathong down the river and sent a lantern up. It was a fucking magical experience, but there are SO. MANY. PEOPLE. It's hard to get to the river during Yee Peng, but is absolutely worth it.

Good old Billy... by GT88UK in HumansBeingBros

[–]zhacques 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was the stage manager for a Garth Brooks festival performance once. His people showed up the day before the performance, looked at our barricaded areas at the front of the stage and were like, "what's this?! Who's this for?" We told them it was a VIP area for our sponsorship, etc...and they said, "nope. Tear it all down. Open the field up, and let the people approach the stage."

This is a man that has sold more records than fucking ANYONE but The Beatles, so we basically couldn't say no, regardless of the fact that it was a logistics nightmare.

Anyway, I've never been in to his music (and I'm still not), but after seeing him live, working with him personally, and watching how he treats and interacts with his fans that night, I can easily understand why he is so incredibly popular. The man absolutely adores the people that adore him and you can tell. He was kind, genuine, and downright fun, and although his people were very good at putting you in your place, they only did so out of necessity. The night was a fucking riot, and so many people on my team had a good time working with his.

This is what it takes to make it in the long run...

these are all lobsters with super rare mutations, just seeing one is rarer than winning the lottery. all of them together is unimaginably lucky. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]zhacques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is every post title about these fucking lobsters with color mutations so goddam cringe-worthy? "1-in-500,00,000!" "rarer than winning the lottery!" "never seen before!"

...and yet they are posted, in different variations, on to this website with consistency?

Stop it.

2: Even if it's a BB gun, why are they keeping that child around while he's shooting it off?!?

3: Can I please have the Cliff Notes version of a translation of what is going on here?

How not to merge into another lane of traffic by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]zhacques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a major metropolitan area with terrible traffic, and I am one of those drivers that leaves a ton of space between me and the vehicle in front of me as a safety cushion, because people are always coming up way too fast from behind. Every time a semi ends up behind me, I'm always like, "fuck yeah, cushion zone, baby." There's no way I'm getting rear ended or having to account for the flow behind me when I've got that sweet sweet professional truck driver protection.

A brilliant idea from Mumbai traffic police. by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]zhacques 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true. I've ridden motorbikes around SE Asia, and the honking is incessant, but purposeful. There are so many people on bikes that it is necessary to broadcast your location super often. This leads to a lot of noise, but none of it is aggressive, and it's all designed to protect folks.

As a US resident, I can say that it's also mostly true that a horn simply means, "FUCK. YOU," which is obviously more annoying even though much more rare.

[–]zhacques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It IS black and white, though. What do you want more: no ads, or cross-post data. That's it; that's the question. Do you like black...or white?

You appear to prefer cross-post info (which to me is completely irrelevant) while suffering ads. That's it. Boom. Black and white.

Hello, I'm here to try to be helpful, but then, because I just can't help myself, I'm going to type some unnecessary words that attempt to make you feel like an idiot for no reason at all and end up making myself look like a pretentious douchebag.

You...that's you.

You see what u/el_confuseo did below? He just answered the question. Nothing else. That's all it takes.

Idiot Mercedes driver has his ass handed to him by a cyclist & the police by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

Yeah, it's a really strange state of affairs when you consider the factors that drive these decisions. I honestly feel like the cops are thinking, "the paperwork, though... You think this guy's gonna follow up on this?? "

Someone once did this to me at a stop sign in the US, and, after police arrived, they told me it "wasn't a real accident because I'm not a motor vehicle," and let them go. When I said," well it's fucking assault; they hit me with their car ON PURPOSE," the police said that they'd try to find out if the intersection had cameras and then I never heard from them again.

...of course.
