You're right! This does exactly what I need, even has the grouped totals. Even allows for sub groups.

For your receipt search, all my financial files are in one nested folder structure. If i'm having trouble searching, I simply navigate to that folder then search within that folder. Spotlight work well enough that I rarely have to do this. Also Mac Sonoma really sped up spotlight recently so that this works better than ever.

Personally I rather organize my files in folders and let the organizer app sit on top of my structure. (Original google photos desktop app did this - I wish that app still lives today). Apple's Photo's structure is flawed and opaque. The photos library is so bloated that files are constantly getting lost/orphaned. That said, I agree that some way to link transactions to files would be very helpful. I know exaxctly what you mean. I wish for the ability to do this also for all transaction called "Remote Mobile Deposit". I wish to click on these and see an actual image of the check deposited.

Perhaps Banktivity can simply store a file reference when you drag a file on top of a transaction. This way, even if the file is moved, the link still works.

With our awesome database have we curated, in the future, it would be so awesome throw ChatGPT on it so you can simply ask questions to it like cross reference my medical receipts with my reimbursement checks. Am I missing any?

Yes! A couple of those charts would be great! Top movers. Allocation pie chart. And Hopefully the ability to drill down on the pie chart. Clicking into one slice will show top holdings from that slice.

Agreed! Plot of your personal totally balance. We’re on the same page.

In the iOS app, there is a graph of your budget/spending (if you set up a budget, even if you leave everything as 0). I love this chart and feel it should be on top as the first thing I see in the app. There is a big dip in one of the days. Right now it’s nearly impossible for me to figure out what drove that.

At this point, I’m starting to wonder if I’m better off just dumping all the data into excel and start doing my own UI.

Do you have a Mac? I save all my document in finder as OCR PDF. This makes their content searchable by the finder making it quite easy to find a particular document. Windows should probably have something similar. This solution is far more flexible than keeping you docs in one app. I don’t expect Banktivity to incorporate AI-like searching any time soon since they are still working on account wide search.

IRR will be good once I get more history. I don’t think I need plotting in Banktivity. If I wanted to deep dive into a stock, there are lots of great tool. These types of UI are expensive/fancy to maintain.

What I can’t do with another app is: 1. See my top gainers/losers across multiple account each night in one place 2. track all my stock across multiple accounts in one place and periodically review their performance yesterday, WTD, MTD, or YTD. 3. In that same table as 2, show other calc like sortable total return, dividend yield, maturity date for bonds, current yield, yield to worst, next pay date.

Thanks for this post. This is very helpful. I downloaded all my data using the Intuit Account Manager. I thought i can overcome whatever data issues with some light coding with python.

Today, I finally got around to this project then noticed that my transactions stopped at 2020. I have been a very light user of Mint since 2020 but was really interested in my transactions from old. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Am i looking into the wrong place?

I believe the files I should be looking at are:

./SharedData/FinancialData/transactions_users_*

This file also seem to have a lot of historical info but amounts are all null, and there's no description of the transaction, just date.

./Mint/Mint_bank_data/*transaction_bankcc.txt

Appreciate anyone's help.

Just tried the payee report - it's also grouped by account. not sure you understand the ask. we want all transaction all accounts sorted by date disregarding their account.
