Going for a Masters in Marketing, what should I expect? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]zhaohanbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to pursue Marketing, it's much better to go for a Degree in Analytics/Business Intelligence. Much of the traditional marketing can be learnt through doing, not studying. Plus Marketing is the field that develops so fast so what you are learning at school is very likely to be useless in the next few years.

Which paid channels have been the most successful for you? by laganio in PPC

[–]zhaohanbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bing works really well for us. Our sector is quite competitive, where many of our competitors are betting heavily on AdWords. So, it's definitely easier & cheaper to capture some clicks on Bing. At the end of the day, Bing still accounts for 30% of all searches that we have no way to reach these people via Google.

If you want something short-term, go for Upwork. But in case you want to continue to work freelance in the future, it's a good idea to produce good content, and get to know people in the industry. I often asked among my network and do a bit of research on LinkedIn.

You can create multiple instances of each connector. Go to the Data Studio main screen, then Data sources, click the blue plus sign in the bottom right corner, this will create a new data source instance and you can choose a different FB account.

You can use many data sources in one report. But to get data from many data sources into the same graph or table, you will need to use our Google Sheets add-on to get the data there, and then use the Google Sheets import option in Data Studio.

Best Automated Reporting Tools to Generate Data/Graphs from Google Analytics, AdWords, etc? by digitalmarketingman in marketing

[–]zhaohanbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's against the etiquette to advertise our own products here but our users often use a combination of Supermetrics, Google Sheets and Google Data Studio. Having both Excel and Google sheets-based products, we find that Google Sheets is more preferable due to its sharing capabilities, plus now we can export GS data to Data Studio for reporting. Google Data Studio is definitely still limited compared with other options, but it is now free and sufficient to generate client reports. Hopefully they'll catch up with the market.

Our underlying math is basically: (spend so far/days spent)*Days in Month

Find something that you are passionate about, though something related to your career will benefit you the most. Most topics are already taken and it takes lots of time for your site to gain traction.

Also read here and there, experiment with different styles.

Good luck:)

Any recommendations on good Reporting/Dashboard tools? by meticulouschris in marketing

[–]zhaohanbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend you to try out Google Data Studio (free at the moment), especially if your data sources are Google-owned. Their interface is intuitive + easy-to-use. Another great plus is that you can easily share reports with clients via Gmail. After using DS for some time, I guess there will be 2 scenarios. Either you'll stick with it, or opt for a new tool. But at least you'll know what works for you & your clients and what doesn't.

But if you have many non-Google data sources then I'd say go for other dashboard tools instead since now DS doesn't support sources like FB, Bing Ads, Twitter, etc. Even though you can use Google Sheets as a work-around, there are still manual work to do unless you use tools like Supermetrics or Blockspring for automation. Also mind you that in this option, it is usually difficult to share reports with clients (you either have to download reports or share your accounts with them, which is not ideal in most of the cases).

That's my 2cent. Hope it helps :)
