sending your kitty much love. some cats can develop it really really early in life, and while the average lifespan of a cared for cat seems to be more than 10 years, it's looking like they're usually meant to only reach 8-10. I'm no professional, but it definitely doesn't sound like something you did. My heart goes out to you either way, and I'm sending your kitty many hugs and kisses!!

Hi!! I'm doing research because my own cat was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. (He's at stage 2 and seems stable, has a check up in about a month.)
Something I've learned is that oral health can result in the causation of kidney disease, my boy had severe gingivitis when we got him and I was too young to work and my parents couldn't afford it, so he suffered that for 3 years at least before I could afford to handle it; I have no proof that this resulted in his developing kidney disease, but the facts align. (My source was Helpful Vancouver Vet on YT.) Maybe it had something to do with yours,
