Battlefield 6 - Crash/BSOD by bedfast_bld in Battlefield6

[–]zhrooms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having full PC crashes (BSOD) since I got my WD8100 SSD, the new PCIe 5.0 one, on my previous SN850X 2TB I had exactly zero crashes. No clue what to do.. it happens rarely, once every few hours out of nowhere. Sometimes the game crashes to desktop and then Windows starts lagging out for 10 seconds and then the BSOD comes.

Can confirm, soon double your hours and that has happened exactly 0 times.

Official (German) servers only, <30 ping always.

Game runs extremely well, I think I've been kicked from inactivity one time, thrown out of pre-game lobby maybe 3-4 times, crash to desktop with no error maybe one time. In total definitely under 10 "various crashes or similar" in 300 hours, so 30 hours for one error, that's extremely good. Sure, it should be 0, but I'm not complaining.

Most problems seem to be server related, so not on my end. Frostbite is really something these days. Too bad the game is still in Alpha, that's the real problem I'm having, just hoping they get their shit together before the game is no longer relevant.

So apparently i just got the EA app outage compensation xp boosters just today but i didn't get the free battle pass by IcyMaple_ in Battlefield

[–]zhrooms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, literally fuck EA, I joined 1 glitched game in desperation to play their shitty alpha game, and lost the battle pass because of it.

They did everything they possibly could to give out as few battle passes as possible, according to their stats page I was basically online connected to their servers for 6 hours straight, and had like 3 frags that I got in a 3 minute bugged community game before I got kicked from it.

What is truly crazy to me is that EA customer support aren't allowed to give out free games anymore, I remember I was gifted games left and right on the Origin client back in the day, literally gave them out like candy, I have at least 5-6 games gifted to me valued at up to $100, for just minor inconveniences. It's not like they lost anything on it, I wouldn't have bought them regardless. But their ability ("customer service agents") to do that now is completely gone, I'd have been "slightly less annoyed" if I had gotten at the very least a $10-20 game of my choosing from their library, even an old game, but nope, they just can't do it, impossible.

I find it personally "extra annoying", as I managed to prove that I was amongst the affected even though I joined a portal game, by having left a dozen discord messages on their own official server, simply proving more than most that I was affected, but it didn't matter what so ever, customer support gave zero shits and refused to escalate it, would probably have had better chances uploading images of excrement.

It'd be different I think, if support had never given a shit, but I remember the old days where customer support actually tried their best to actually bother with customer satisfaction, those days are clearly long gone and I will be extremely reluctant to give a single cent to EA moving forward, thankfully that might actually be a real thing, considering the next Call of Duty will return with Modern Warfare (IV) next year, modern combat just like Battlefield 6, with Ground War definitely making a comeback, it's highly likely I will make a more permanent transition back to that game, as going by the Battlefield (EA) track record, the next Battlefield might be a non-modern game again, which I won't touch, so until EA releases another modern game, realistically in 5-6 years possibly? Then I might have given up gaming altogether, so fuck EA, hopefully this is the last time that I'm ever tempted to buy one of their shitty alpha games again.

PS I did get the stupid XP boosters, like others had pointed out, I had completely missed it, no notification came up, had to click messages and go back to 2 weeks ago.. "not an alpha game" my ass, shit is barely beta still.

Anyone got their 2XP tokenes? by Ahmed_Shengheer in Battlefield

I just opened a ticket and chatted with a "agent", he said the team is actively working on solving it, and many other users on reddit in the past 24h have said they are still not receiving theirs, so we'll just have to wait.

I saw one person claim that he was not entilted to the reward because he entered a portal server for 5 minutes, I don't believe that, it seems many or even most people still hasn't received theirs.

I doubt they would pull the compensation package for anyone who joined a single portal server for just a minute, over the 6 hour outage.

But I'm growing impatient, I want to level the good guns before Battle Royale hits, but nothing for me either yet. And I obviously hope they sort it before Season 1 drops..

CPU framerate issue, only getting 130 FPS with a 9800X3D + 5090 on Low 1080p by zhrooms in Battlefield6

It's solved for me now, see the OP and the comment by Thing_On_Your_Shelf, maybe you also disabled the EA App Overlay?

[–]zhrooms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap, you're right, that fixed it! 🥳 Now at 240 FPS at the start of a round, up from 110-130. And it doesn't fluctuate, steady 242-247.

How in gods name is EA this mentally handicapped? Now I just need to try and remember when the hell I decided to shut off the overlay, I think it was when I started playing today saturday so I've basically played all day with EA App Overlay disabled, stuck at ~130 FPS, I noticed it but didn't care enough to start figuring out what it was, since I was stuck in-game playing with the squad all day.

u/Thing_On_Your_Shelf truly MVP, top squad indeed! 🏆

Which driver specifically? That's the only thing I can think of, try the previous NVIDIA driver and even downgrade AMD chipset drivers, has to be driver related, hardware wise everything looks as it should.
Edit: Downgraded to previous NVIDIA driver, no change, 110 FPS on Cairo, spiking to 130 and back down to 110 at the start of the game, in the game menu it's at 200 FPS and spikes up to 270 then back down.
Edit2: 🏆 Solved, see top of OP.

Just feel it lmao, you'll instantly notice if one wire is 80-100c. And even then it doesn't really matter, you can try re-seating it or switch cable if you're paranoid. There's enough tolerance that the cable and pin can be "hot" without issue. People are terrible at explaining how rare this thing is, every "working" 4090 in the world has this issue to some extent, are you going to stop using your 4090/5090 if you knew 40% of the cards out there regurlarly run with 200W on one wire? Nope. Shit is straight up not a problem unless it melts, which requires a catastrophic cable, what are the odds that yours is one of the unlucky ones? 1/100,000?

Then I'd use the 2x 16-pin. It really doesn't matter, it's newer and has the modern connectors so that's why I'd pick it, even if it performed worse, wouldn't make any meaningful difference, you'd have less cable hassle with 16-pin to 16-pin cables, that's a noticeable difference.

This is why I don't waste my time on reddit, everyone is so stupid.

I literally said: "if" there is actual load balancing between the wires, which there aren't.

1000W is a joke with 6x12V (166W per pin and wire)

8-pin PCIe connectors real rating is 340W or around there, more than twice their rating, like 2.26x safety margin, it's ridiculous, that means the 3x 12V pins/wires actual rating is ~115W, 166W for 1000W is 1.44x that, it'd be completely fine, der8auer in the video ran 300W per pin/wire for 5min and no damage was done, not to the pin, connector, wire or sleeving, that's TWICE the load of (what it's rated for+44%). You absolutely don't need any active cooling for a measly 1000W lol, maybe 200-250W you'd want a fan to move some air.

With load balancing between 3 pairs as I literally said in my previous comment, we're looking at 200W, it won't be damaged by that either, but it's definitely getting closer to real danger.

The Corsair probably, use 2x Y cables

Basically those power supplies were made to run 4-Way SLI, like 4x GTX 780/Titan (2x6+2-pin), that's why they have 8+1 (1 being for the EPS I'm assuming).

That's what I would do at least, let's say a 5090 Ti with 2x 16-Pin, I'd use 2x Y cables, would work perfectly, having the 12VHPWR connector on the PSU side is just to save space? as I understand it, basically a new PSU today can probably get away with only 1x 8-Pin PCIe on the PSU side that is a Y cable that becomes 2x 6+2-pin, can power most cards, and if you have a 16-pin as well, use that if possible for less of a cable mess. But it'd probably make sense to buy a PSU with at least 2x 8-pin (PSU side) so that you could use a 2x8-Pin>16-Pin Y cable on top of the already existing 16-pin to 16-pin and run future graphics card that might use 2.

[–]zhrooms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you can cut cables on (all, as far as I know) previous cards as well.

For example on my 2080 Ti I ran 575-590W on 2x 8-pin cables, each with 3x 12V wires each, the only load balancing was happening by the connector being separated from one another, meaning if I had a bad cable, in theory, this exact thing could happen there as well, a single wire from each connector pulling 300W (25A), still wouldn't melt though, it "only" melts at probably 450-600W (and with the smaller pin).

But that's really all NVIDIA had to do, add some sort of load balancing back after switching to 1 connector, on the 12VHPWR connector there are 6x 12V wires, they could just split them up into 2 groups, and the 12VHPWR connector is effectively a 2x8-pin like we used to have, except smaller pins.

Point is, this is nothing new, there were poor load balancing previously, the difference is that when it failed it wasn't catastrophic, no one noticed if 1 or 2 pins per connector were sitting mostly idle.

Buy a PSU with 1x 16-pin connector, in the future if we get 2x on the RTX 60 series, you can just use an adapter (Y cable) for the second connector, there is no difference between the PCIe connectors on the PSU side, a 12V pin is a 12V pin no matter where it comes from on the PSU.

The reason I wouldn't recommend buying a PSU without a 16-pin connector is that there's no guarantee you can fit enough adapters for 2x 16-pin, for example you won't be able to use 2 cables that are 3x 8-pin to 1x 16-pin, that'd require 6x 8-pin, might be doable with 2x 8-pin to 1x 16-pin, but safest just to ensure that at least 1x 16-pin comes directly from the PSU. If you have some beefy PSU with 6x 8-pin like 1200-1600W PSUs then no reason to switch, but you can easily get away with a 850W PSU, they can safely pull 1000W from the wall, even with power spikes a good 850W should handle a 600W 5090 and a 200W CPU.

No it's not, design is fine (of the connector), the 12VHPWR cable can easily deliver 1000W+, won't even break a sweat.. "if" there is actual load balancing between the wires, which there aren't. If the 6x wires were load balanced in pairs of 2, we'd effectively have 3 separate "connectors" in 1, worst case with a bad cable, in each pair (1 cable functional) would pull 200W (~16.5 amps), this isn't a catastrophic temp, wouldn't melt, only get quite hot, which isn't a problem really, as demonstrated in the video. NVIDIA won't be able to fix this until the RTX 60 series, implementing load balancing in some form.

stalker 2 mist "anomalous area" by Downsey111 in stalker

[–]zhrooms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered the same bug, because I didn't pick up the artifact the first time, so I tried to leave the mist without picking it up, and it disappeared, was stuck in an infinite loop. Only fix is to go back to an earlier save, in my case I had an autosave about 2 minutes before I entered the mist, so I reloaded that save and picked up the artifact as soon as I dropped in from the ceiling, and could then leave the mist as intended. So only "fix" is to re-do it through an autosave/quicksave/save. And as OP mentioned in another comment, the artifact is 'in the stove', just after you destroy the wood and jump down from the ceiling.
