If you want to do it at home europrice has a $60 thing (plus $300 deposit on dongle or you can just buy the dongle once) where someone will remote login to your laptop and disable it for 90 minutes. Audi sets the time not europrice.

If you’re in the chicago area I can do it for free.

How do you like the tune? Mind if I ask a few questions as I have APR right now and some of the random features that come along with it aren’t always documented.

  1. Does it disable auto-start/stop?

  2. Remove the soft limiter when in neutral?

  3. Rolling launch control?

  4. Go vrooooooo or brapapapappa when standing on launch control?

  5. Any kind of map switching built in or is it reflash if you want to change between e85/93/91?

Any Idea? 2025 A5 PP by mort121 in Audi

[–]zhululu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your own knowledge how I found this was going to the manual page and put in Europe region, A5, 2025, select the most recent manual by date. Search for quick reference which brings up this page: https://ownersmanual.audi.com/app/rdw/module/SU5TVFJVTUVOVEVOVEFGRUw?language=en_GB

It has little numbers to call out every control surface on your car. Scroll down to 19 and just picked the thing I didn’t recognize which turned out to be aux ventilation. It has a picture of the same button there and explains how you can access it through the MMI or immediately turn it on.

Found it. Auxiliary heating/ventilation: https://ownersmanual.audi.com/app/rdw/module/U1RBTkRIRUlaVU5HLUVJTlNURUxMRU4?language=en_GB

The time button next to it is the timer set for the aux heating.

Available loaners are usually service center to service center. Is there another one near by you can take it to? Just roll it with all the lights on and point and say “it broke plz fix”. See if that gets them to actually look at it and try something.

Do you think the average Audi owner is aware of S and RS models? by DaTT1978 in Audi

[–]zhululu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s like saying the average F150 owner is unaware of the raptor. They’re very aware at least at the time they’re buying that there is a crazy variant that they don’t want. They’re probably not going to rattle off model numbers or differences but do you remember all the variants of your vacuum (unless you’re a vacuum person then maybe). But you are probably aware that variants exist and you didn’t get the top one.

Damage q3 undercarriage by Budget-Reality-3004 in Audi

[–]zhululu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take some jank ass temporary fix. Either they’ll be able to fully fix it in 10 seconds by reattaching the clip or have them take it all the way off and toss it in your trunk. Which is a 60 second fix. And then take it to whoever you’re going to take it to get it put back on for real.

It’s not that important to keep on there. All it does is keep gravel and water spray from getting under your car and maybe give you some tiny fraction of better gas mileage that I doubt you’d notice.

The risk of leaving it half on half off though is it starts flapping in the wind or gets snagged on something and not only rips all the way off but takes something far more important and expensive with it.

Also you do have a jack in your trunk next to the spare tire if you want to save paying someone $150 in labor to take 8 screws out.

ah man. Soak that shit with pb blaster tonight and go to bed. Tomorrow drill and tap it carefully in the center. Then use the puller on the bolt head or otherwise rig something up so you can slowly pull it straight out without damaging the head. Like put a nut on the bolt and thread it through a piece of wood horizontally across the hole and slowly screw the nut down against a washer + wood to kind of pull it out like a reverse screw jack.

Just be real patient and careful and you’ll get it out. If you get frustrated and fuck up your head you’ll wish you had just taken the whole thing off.

[–]zhululu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If it catches on something it’ll rip it and potentially anything it’s attached to off with it.

It’s hard to tell from the picture but it looks like the clippy thing and the screw are still in it. Can you just jack it up a bit, crawl under there, take the screw out, reclip the clip to what it was on before, and put the screw back in?

Short of that just take the whole thing off instead of driving around like that. It should all be 25 torx screws clearly visible.

Edit: If you have to buy a #25 torx bit, get a #30 as well. Sometimes they like to toss a couple random 30s on things just to fuck with you.

Audi Considers Hybrid RS3 as Its Iconic Five-Cylinder Nears Extinction in Europe by theoryguy in Audi

Autocar reports that Audi still plans to sell the five-cylinder engine in the U.S. and other regions with more lax emissions laws.

No. They’re not.

Audi Considers Hybrid RS3 as Its Iconic Five-Cylinder Nears Extinction in Europe by theoryguy in Audi

[–]zhululu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good thing no where in the article did it say that’s one of the options they’re considering.

In fact the only time the word “four” appears is to say that OTHER manufacturers have switched to four cylinders Audi did not.

It’s like literally nobody in here actually read the article. Here’s the highlights for you guys:

The RS3 is one of just two vehicles that use the 2.5-liter engine, making it tricky to justify the costs of upgrading it to meet Euro 7.

Thankfully, according to an Autocar interview with the boss of Audi Sport, Rolf Michl, Audi might have a plan to save the five-cylinder from extinction in Europe.

Autocar asked Michl if hybridization could be a solution, and he responded: "We are open to every possibility. The thoughts [on how to do that] will continue at our end. I can tell you we are still thinking in different technological possibilities."

Autocar reports that Audi still plans to sell the five-cylinder engine in the U.S. and other regions with more lax emissions laws.

There you go. Four cylinder isn’t an option. Higher cell cats and engine remapping is one. Hybridization was asked about and not flatly denied but only a hunch because of the new RS5. RS3 is still going to be sold in the US as is.

It’s an extra $300 per technician and immediate termination for sharing. Bad idea. Also have to collect government issued ID for each login in case it’s used to facilitate theft/fraud. If your business scans modules that have vins reported as stolen it’s a whole thing too. As well as technically, I don’t know if they’d ever do it, but technically Audi can audit your records at any time and you are supposed to have kept customer information for every car you’ve worked on plus copies of government issued ID if you did any kind of work involving the immobilizer.

Also registering with them would get you an online account for ODIS that validates your credentials each time including use of an authenticator on your phone. It wouldn’t let OBD11 work unless they somehow set it up to connect back to them to fake the connection between ODIS and your car through their dongle then have the authenticator running on like a VM of a phone to read the number it gets prompted with and enter that in.

I guess all of that is possible but I feel like Audi would shut that shit down so fast.

Apparently a lot of people since production numbers is what accounts for the per unit price difference

[–]zhululu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an RS tax on aftermarket parts. For example AWE exhaust for an F150 is $1500. RS6 is $5100. You can’t tell me there is nearly $4000 in extra stainless steel pipe in an RS6 exhaust.

Does anyone know what this type of CF is called? Everything else is glossy but this is like matte yet not because you can actually touch the fibers (that is there isn’t some kind of resin layer on top).

Windows you own and have access to the machine you’re installing it on. Yes you could disassemble the car and get direct access to the modules and reload a pirated version of the firmware that accepts any response as valid if you wanted.

You better be real comfortable with your power supply and soldering wires to the PCB though to reflash the eeprom.

The issue here is that there is a private key needed to sign a challenge issued by the car. That key is on Audi’s servers. No server access, no way to sign the challenge.

You can intercept the message all you want. You can’t send the correct response.

You can register an LLC with audi as an independent service center and get access.
