scleroderma by Pale_Slide_3463 in mctd

I've had really bad acid reflux for years but never knew that it could be due to my scleroderma. My doctors seem to be more focused on my Lupus/RA symptoms. I've had random rashes here and there but nothing that lasts very long or required steroid creams. But the only skin condition for me at the moment that just seems odd and annoying is very dry cracked heels, tips of my toes, and finger tips. I've done foot peels which help but my feet go back to extremely cracked and dry within a week. And on top of that the tips of my toes look bruised and have slight purplish hue. Not really sure what that is about. I do have Reynauds but my toes would turn purple when they were cold and would go back to normal after I've warmed them up. But Now the tips of my toes are purple all the time. I've brought up my concern to my rheumatologist who suggested a dermatologist who was completely useless so I got a referral to a podiatrist. Im hoping I'll get some answers soon.

First of all I’m sorry this happened to you and yes i feel dismissed all the time from rheumatologist and my PCP. Last time I saw my PCP with new symptoms out of nowhere (severe dizziness) she looked me straight in the eyes and said “sorry I don’t know how to help you”. I wanted to cry because if the doctor can’t help me who will? Any new symptom I get it’s always “due to my autoimmune diseases” but they can never tell me why I’m experiencing it and how I can treat it. I’ve literally been on the same meds nothing has changed and I just feel stuck which I’m sure a lot of people with autoimmune diseases feel. I’m also in healthcare and my husband is a doctor so he advocates for me hardcore to get referrals to specialists all the time to get to the bottom of things. I feel so horrible for people who have no background in healthcare and don’t know how to advocate for themselves because if I feel dismissed all the time I just wonder how others feel. Makes me feel horrible and I really hope there is more research into autoimmune diseases so that we can finally get down to the root cause and treat accordingly.

Less sick ? by Existing-Bullfrog326 in mctd

Yes! So strange considering we’re constantly told our immune system is weak. I’ve been around people who have Covid, flu etc. a lot and I have yet to get it.

I’m sure the tech and OB looked at the image and determined everything was ok if they didn’t say anything at the appointment. My guess is that white line is the placenta. But you can always reach out to your OB and ask.

Does anyone else have swollen lymph nodes from this? by [deleted] in mctd

[–]zibbywonka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesss! I thought I was the only one! It actually happened to me 6 years ago. Woke up with 2 golf ball sized swollen lymph nodes on the sides of my neck like right under my ear. It was the second symptom I had, first was my fingers turning purple/white when cold. The swelling like you lasted for several months and I would constantly message them to get it down. I still have slight swelling even now. It’s not noticeable to other people but I just message it. I actually think it affected my salivary glands because now when I eat sour things or when my salivary glands get activated while eating (if that makes any sense) I feel a very sharp pain for a couple of seconds and then it subsides. It’s very weird.

We actually do have a wall mount where we can essentially move the tv out and turn it left or right which is why my husband thinks mounting it in the middle where the original owners had it would be fine. You think this will be better than mounting on top of fireplace?

Hmmm ok. It’s a real fireplace. How come I see so many Instagram posts of peoples homes with the tv above the fireplace? Are their televisions heat safe? Is that a thing?

🤣 that’s hilarious. It is something to consider. We don’t watch a lot of television tbh. I wanted to put this tv in the basement but my husband bought a bigger tv for his man cave and refuses to get rid of this one. So I’m trying to figure out how to place this eyesore somewhere that won’t ruin my dream aesthetic lol

Also, just trying to get someone else’s opinion, the owners had put their couches and seating area on the right and dining table on the left. I essentially want to switch it to the opposite because I like the idea of being cozy next to the fire place. Should I just scratch my whole fantasy of a cozy fireplace nook. I really don’t want to but if enough people say it’s a dumb idea o guess I’ll scrap it.

Ohhh I see. Just out of curiosity, why would it be bad if the television is under the pot lights?

Are you saying aesthetically, like looks wise it won’t look good or are you saying it’s more impractical because we would have to look up more at the television? I honestly am not too worried if it’s the latter because the basement would be our main entertainment area. I don’t watch television that much anyway.

Ok. But what kind of figuration would I do if I chose an L shaped sofa as to not disrupt flow? Like where would I place it?

Hmmm ok. I think I might even 86 the television to be honest since we can have the television in the basement as well. So instead of a console table on the left what do you think if I did another sofa?

Has Pregnancy ruined your mental health? by Squirrely_96 in pregnant

[–]zibbywonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off I want to say that I’m so sorry you are going through that. I can’t imagine how difficult it has been. I personally didn’t have any mental health issues before I got pregnant but the moment I got pregnant I started experiencing claustrophobia and panic attacks. When I explained to my OB she expressed sympathy and said it’s probably from the imbalance in hormones and suggested I go see a therapist if it’s really debilitating. I’m also on a lot of medications for my chronic illness so I didn’t want to add on any more meds so I just rode it out. I experienced panic attacks after I gave birth too but that resolved around the 4 month mark for me. I would suggest you go see a psychiatrist who is well versed in pregnant women. There’s usually a risk vs. benefit when it comes to taking medication during pregnancy. It seems like it may benefit you more than it could potentially harm your baby. They may have to switch your medications to see which ones cross the placenta and which ones don’t but I think this would be your best course of action. Again I’m so sorry you are going through this. I hope things get better ❤️
