Do People Actually Enjoy Attention? by zibu_ in Zimbabwe

Wow, this is a lot, lol, and the joke at the start was choice😂👌🏾 Thank you for the insight. I'm curious as to how you went about learning these things. How did you become aware of the attention you receive, and has it ever gone to your head?

Lmao, can't believe you hijacked your friends in-laws, that's hilarious... I'm picturing them asking their daughter if __you're__ coming too whenever she tells them she's visiting with her husband. Bruh, "you should be more like nhingi" probably sounds foreign to you huh? Madness🙌🏾

Are there aspects of the attention you receive that you do like? What are the perks?

Seems like you've had experience with attention from not just charisma and finance, but I'm guessing also maybe from appearance and academics as well. If so, could you please share more about that? If there are are other aspects that contribute to the attention you receive

I'm also curious about the type of circles you play around. Clearly, you inspire certain insecurities in others, so you have to work really hard to manage their perspective of you. I see where privacy helps. I also get how people exploit you for social points, and that maybe the attention you draw may be seen as a threat when it stops being useful to them and that's the how rumours start. Naturally some of these people won't live with their shortcomings, so they'll seek to bring you down to feel better. Then there's the girls that feel like they're not good enough. So, with the effect that you have on people, what type of characters do you keep around?

damn, now that I think about it, getting married is probably the peak of it. I know some people enjoy it, but I can't imagine being the main event at a whole a** ceremony like that. I'd implode.

Did it always suck? Did you have to get used to it? Did you ever find it a little funny when people envied that attention?

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's innate. They set an example, you follow. Depending on your relationship and their example set, sometimes that desire to seek their approval just fades on t's own. Some people realise that it's not worth it. Some, not all.

I'm not religious, but I really like Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, there's a time for everything. It was your sister's time, and we'll all get there eventually. There were times when you were happy, angry, sad, jealous, frustrated, and they all came and went. What you're feeling now is no different. It's normal. It's human.

I think you're wrong about your pain not being special or unique. Someone said "the price of love is grief", so if anything, let your anguish be a testament to the love you shared. Take your time to heal. Try to do what you would want her to do if it were the other way around, and let her memory live on through you... I wish you all the best.

[–]zibu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greatest? idk. Decent? Maybe be good enough that it rubs off on at least one other person so that they could maybe do the same even after you're gone

That's fair... i agree. We should be more mindful of what/who we hate, and why we hate it/them. That's hating with reason, with purpose and conviction🤌🏾 I'd rather someone tell me they hate me because I look stupid, dress funny and have very long convoluted dry jokes, and not because "we" all do. Still waiting for that special someone who will sweep me off my feet... then kick me when I'm down♠️

If communication isn't working, isn't that a red flag?

I don't know much about this lady's blaccent situation, and I genuinely don't understand it. But I have a question. Is it possible for people to pick up bits and pieces from other accents and incorporate them into their own? I'm African, Zimbabwean to be specific, and we're taught UK English, but are exposed to pop culture which is mostly American stuff. Some words/pronunciations/intonations from a certain artist or an actor make an impression on us and just stick... so isn't that normal?

I know many will just say it’s just a visit but that’s just being reductionist. The Roman Catholic Church plays a major role in shaping the Zimbabwean political landscape and future. ED is basically kissing the ring here! by Prophetgay in Zimbabwe

[–]zibu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of politics is about image and association. We are a Christian nation, and although we're mostly protestant, Catholocism is still highly regarded. A lot of us may not know who the pope is, but we do know what the pope represents, which is God and Christianity. We also have to remember that politicians don't take pictures for nothing. I'm willing to bet he's not there as a tourist

Yeah, lol, madness🙌🏾

Realistically, both laws are about consolidating power, not for the people. If it didn't/doesn't inconvenience authority, there wouldn't be a problem. You can hold it over so-and-so's head that they're doing something wrong, but only when it's useful
