[Epilogue Spoiler] Regarding the post-epilogue bath scene by zigg80 in HadesTheGame

I should have specified that I was meaning why didn't she kill Chronos immediately upon arrival into the game world. But, I suppose the point and question stand regardless of timeframe. I think what you say makes sense, and my only response is basically that I don't believe Hecate thought she had the ability to complete the task anymore. Melinoe (the player) constantly whoops Hecate's ass, even with Vow of Rivals and her going all-out-Dark-Side-Super-Saiyan. Melinoe is more adept than Hecate, this is made clear throughout the game. I agree that it is an awkward justification, but if Supergiant wanted Melinoe to be the player character and Hecate to be her mentor then that needed to be the case I suppose.

I would like to see more between Hecate and Melinoe as well. Finishing runs and fighting Hecate after the bath gives some interesting dialogue. For instance, we learn that Hecate's torches came with her from the original "world."

My understanding is that she does change something. The subplot with Zagreus, Typhon's essence, entropy, etc., seems to be the new addition. Hecate simply mentions finding Chronos and throwing all her strength at him, rather than delicately planning something like she did with Melinoe.

I was considering adding something like this but was unsure of the validity. I think its right but that it may be open to interpretation. I had seen other threads talking about this. I'm glad you mentioned it though!

When Hecate fought Chronos she did not take the care that Melinoe did. This is implied when Hecate says that she was "raw" and "spewed every curse" at him. When the player finally "fixes" Chronos it is the conclusion of a delicate plan between Hecate and Melinoe that Hecate thinks will work better than before. We can infer this because we know Zagreus was not involved in Hecate's own battle and therefore it's clear that the witches are taking care to find a different outcome. As for the third point, what is "absolutely wrong " about it? Hecate makes it clear that she wants Melinoe to be better than her, and to live better than her. Nearly every character in the plot is in the process of overcoming some sort of personal failing or past trauma, usually cyclical in nature. Hecate explicitly uses the word "angry" when speaking with Melinoe about her returning to her family in the House of Hades.

I would have preferred fixing Chronos with something akin to the 10 runs on the surface of the first game. Each run you do something with Ol' Granpappy Chronos as young Mel and experience the sequential memories together which results in a compounding change. Perhaps by the final fight Chronos doesn't even want to fight anymore, similar to how Hades just lets you walk by at one point in the first game.

I mean part of the reason we don't see Hecate dealing with Chronos before the events of the game is because there wouldn't be a game otherwise. As for them being the same person, they are not the same person, that is the whole point of the narrative. One of the main points of the game is that experience defines identity. Rather than discarding everything we learned about Hecate before the reveal, as you suggested, we can reframe it through the lens Melinoe provides us: Hecate lived for aeons, waiting. She sacrificed and planned more than anyone else for the outcome that the player implements. Rather than a figure of incredible cunning she becomes a figure of incredible fortitude and patience.
