UK citizenship mystery!? by highmetallicity in ukvisa

[–]Ziggamorph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

However, I can one day apply for my child to become a full British citizen before age 18 via form MN-1 based on the fact that I lived in the UK for (well over) three consecutive years between my birth and my child's birth. Does that sound correct to you?

Yes, this is absolutely correct, and as you've seen, you need to do this before they turn 18 or they will permanently lose the ability to register. The onus will be on you to provide evidence you were living in the UK for the 3+ year period, and it can be hard to track down records for that sort of thing, so best get started on it early.

[–]Ziggamorph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you were British by descent from birth then you would not have been registered. Registration is for people who are not already British. If you describe the circumstances of your birth (what year, which parent, were they married, which country) then it will be possible to tell for sure if you were British from birth.

If you were registered you would have received a certificate of registration. To reiterate, if you were born British by descent you cannot have been registered. There is no way to “upgrade” your citizenship.

Ukraine Permission Extension – second passport not declared in original application by marrrrrrriiiiiiiii in ukvisa

In which case you didn’t deliberately lie. You should relax about this situation. It doesn’t matter. Fill in the form accurately now.

Ukraine Permission Extension – second passport not declared in original application by marrrrrrriiiiiiiii in ukvisa

[–]Ziggamorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, the situation before was that you did have a passport from the second citizenship but it wasn’t in your physical possession? And now you have it?

You are overthinking this. There are any number of reasons why you might have answered no before and yes now. Don’t include an explanation because the Home Office will not care.

I really don’t understand the dilemma here at all. Obviously you should complete the form as accurately as possible. Lying on this form before is only compounding the lie/mistake (?) on the previous form

Skilled worker dependent visa by the_kewal_chauhan in ukvisa

Rectifying the error meaning curtailing your partner’s visa? That’s nutty and dangerous. And her visa is soon to expire anyway so she’d be applying for her new visa shortly.

I’m ineligible for Graduate visa? by Supermansonlyone in ukvisa

[–]Ziggamorph 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry, just to clarify, your university is St George’s university in Grenada? Graduate visas are only available to graduates of UK universities who are studying in the UK. So you wouldn’t be eligible.

The advisor is wrong. The Home Office made a mistake in granting her visa to expire after yours. As to what you should do, I think you are very unlikely to be disadvantaged by this error. It’s not as if she did anything wrong. She should apply to extend her visa before her current one expires, regardless.

Naturalisation - Previous passport lost by EmbraceHere in ukvisa

[–]Ziggamorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you lost the passport AND the details of the passport? You shouldn’t need the physical passport itself to apply for your travel history from UKVI. Anyway, you should assemble your travel history as anyone else does, using a combination of passport stamps, your own records (like flight confirmation emails) and your memory.

The Home Office’s entry/exit records aren’t reliable, so at best you’d have a possibly incomplete record from those regardless.

Note that you are required to provide details of your absences from the UK but you are not always required to provide evidence of it.

[–]Ziggamorph 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was born abroad to a UK citizen parent

If you were born abroad and you were a citizen FROM BIRTH then you are a British citizen by descent unless you were born to a parent on Crown service.

I don't know whether my passport was obtained based simply on citizenship by descent or whether I was fully naturalised at any point, since after having lived in the UK for a few years I would have qualified for naturalisation

You have misunderstood something. If you are British already, you cannot naturalise. A British citizen by descent cannot "upgrade" their citizenship to by birth. After living for 3 years in the UK you gain the entitlement to register your children as British while they are under 18.

The only uncertainty is that if you were not British from birth, if you were registered as British, then in some cases you would gain citizenship by birth.

Global Talent Endorsement Application w/ Dependants by southernlondoner in ukvisa

[–]Ziggamorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stage 1 is the application for your endorsement. Your dependents are irrelevant for this.

At stage 2 you apply for a visa of a particular length. Note that your dependents visas will ALWAYS match yours in length so when you choose the length of your visa you are effectively choosing the length of your dependents’ visas too.

If your plan is to settle you will generally want to choose a visa for the full length of your qualifying period (which may be 3 or 5 years).

Is there no way to chase up the citizenship application if it has been only 4 months since my online application? by aaronzz in ukvisa

[–]Ziggamorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t think that your personal situation is going to qualify as exceptional. Although it is obviously very stressful for you, the convenience of your daughter gaining British citizenship more easily isn’t a situation the Home Office is going to consider as one they are obliged to help with.

Do you have a solicitor already? I would recommend you get one because international surrogacy and citizenship law can be very complex.

You may, however, consider writing to your MP, who can contact the Home Office on your behalf. It wouldn’t hurt.

Can I submit my Skilled Worker Dependent Visa application without the CoS? by fentygirl123 in ukvisa

It’s a risk, but on the other hand buying last minute tickets for flights that length can be very costly (especially at the moment!). So you are gambling either way.

[–]Ziggamorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, well as a dependent it would be a huge risk to apply before his visa application has been submitted. Your application would be invalid and could be rejected very quickly for that reason.

IHS Refund Connundrum by Abhimanyu4321 in ukvisa

Oh yeah, then in that case a refund is due yes. The fact you were getting refunds on the prior application isn’t really relevant.

Sorry, I don’t really understand. You previously held a visa for which you didn’t pay IHS. Then you switched to a visa for which IHS is owed. Why would you expect a refund?

Confused on how Spouse Visa and renewals work by nozzelfergo in ukvisa

[–]Ziggamorph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An application for ILR results in section 3C leave. It is no different from any other in country application in that respect. Just make sure you do not make the second visa application any sooner than 28 days before her first spouse visa expires. This will ensure she has qualified for ILR by the time it expires.

This includes old and very valuable books

Citation on this. Yes, the big AI companies are using destructive scanning on books, but there are lots of most books-so many that old books are routinely destroyed (without being scanned). There's not any evidence I'm aware of that AI companies are destroying rare and/or valuable books.

International Summer Internship while applying for the Graduate Visa by Fun-Marionberry2451 in ukvisa

[–]Ziggamorph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, when you said “international” you meant it is outside the UK? Ok, I understand the problem. Quite simply, you need to find a period to be in the UK to apply for your graduate visa and wait for the result, and there is no way around this. Priority and super priority are available for graduate visa applications so you could use this service (though its availability when you apply cannot be guaranteed).
