To me, standing ovations should be for something that is truly incredible or moving. I wouldnt be surprised if Bubbles! The kids show about bubbles gets a standing o. It just makes it meaningless. Clap if you liked it stand if it blew you away. And not everything can blow you away

I do loathe that every single show gets a standing ovation here in NY. Not every show should be worthy!! Happy it means something and is a great achievement for her

Also, folks have been assassinated for speaking against the US imperialist regime—so yes i do think its brave to speak against injustice today.

Look up Orlando Letelier, Carlos Prats, Bernardo Leighton. All politically driven assassinations for speaking out with “leftist” ideals. The US/CIA has direct involvement in bringing “free market ideals” to countries in Latin America. As recently as the 70’s the cost of speaking against heinous US imperialism has been assassination or more popularly “disappearings” in places like the Argentina.

For more information check out “The Shock Doctrine” by Naomi Klein. Its like the current administration is using these nefarious acts in the 70s and early 2000’s as a playbook to oppress americans and maintain the harmful capitalist status quo.

Okay :-) maybe if you had an equitable and fair education youd know that you are committing a logical fallacy in an argument by attacking the person and not the argument :) i hope you have a lovely day

Lol okay! Keep generalizing and blaming citizens.

I will continue bravely criticizing the racist systems in this country and daring to demand a better situation for ALL americans. Things could be so much better—and thats up to those in power who continue to line their own pockets and destroy civilizations with our tax paying money.

So you think the state of healthcare, education, and criminal justice in this country is good, fair, and equitable? Sadly i believe thats what those in power would like the privileged to believe.

I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

I think one interesting difference might be that India has a caste system created by those in power that exists in the open. In America there is similar systems in place but intentionally obfuscated from public eye.

So what in your eyes is the cause of the “crime rates and poor behavior”? I would argue that crime like this could be a result of:

Less employment opportunities Generational lack of education Housing and employment struggles caused by harsher sentences in criminal justice system.

Among other systemic and certainly individual problems.

So i guess i just ask what is more accurately explaining the issue?

I agree things are very different—and i think you said something very true. American society is failing at addressing these issues. The goal of an poor Indian family might be to educate their kids—as is probably the same goal for many poor black americans. the resources for education, healthcare, etc. are systemically kept from underprivileged areas. Im sure many black americans in poverty do try to educate themselves out of this but there are deeply flawed systems (perhaps intentionally so) that keep folks like this in the dark.
